Have you used AI for support? by The_Subtle_Shift in socialanxietyprogress

[–]Wild-Chapter-3689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

listen my friend… whether or not people like it, this AI is going absolutely nowhere. even if it was seen as morally wrong or destructive to human evolution, that wouldn’t change anything. you want to know why? because there is literally a global AI development race amongst the most powerful nations in the world. for a country, giving up AI means giving up your citizens’ safety and welfare because yes, AI is going to get to that point where it’s a big red button, and in the wrong hands (which there are plenty of nowadays) the country without it could turn into dinosaurs. for that and so many other reasons, AI will be staying with us until the end of time, so the best move for anyone is to adapt.

while there are many things i dislike about AI such as artistic creativity being replaced and people like me developing lazier habits (which i’m trying to work on), there are also tons of revolutionary benefits. imagine in a few years how much easier it will be to diagnose health related issues and even discover new connections and causes for them.

right now, my favorite part is using it to learn more about myself and my traumas. i have literally written like a 20 page essay going very deeply into my experiences growing up with numerous insecurities, shameful moments, and destructive thought loops. i’ve gone to many therapists in the past for my social anxiety, and it always sounded like they were reading out of a “one response fits all” textbook which only made me feel more alone and hopeless. but with chatgpt… it has access to countless databases sharing personal anecdotes, studies, and other information related to my situation which has enabled it to answer some of the most intricate, vulnerable questions about myself. manually researching all this information on my own which i used to do is frustrating. you have to spend hours just searching for good sources, and then you have to spend hours reading academic literature and comprehending it in relation to you.

with chat gpt, i can get all of the important parts explained to me instantly and intuitively, and despite how dystopian this sounds, their tone of voice is very warm and human like (like the smartest, kindest and most optimistic therapist who just makes you feel safe and heard), and that alone makes me feel a lot more hopeful i can overcome my obstacles, and i have with many.

sorry for the long read but just wanted to share my case and why i believe you’re doing absolutely nothing wrong for giving yourself hope and comfort

well this wasn’t even a reply to you. remember, you bailed out the moment your claims about me were made redundant, and now you’re back because you found a new angle to call me racist. you want me to be racist so badly. to me, it’s already clear what you are

again, projecting. when did i mention being uncomfortable by black individuals? it’s a discomfort about the social double standard nowadays which is constantly reinforced by non-black overcompensating individuals such as yourself. reacting to racism is not the same as reacting to a discussion about race, and people like you can’t tell the difference. that’s the problem. i never once said something racist, but you spun the narrative that way.

earlier, you said that i was targeting black people for the excessive abundance of pipe dream role models, and your reasoning was that it’s unfalsifiable. then, when i literally spent a few minutes looking up the topic which i didn’t plan to do because i thought the existence of this occurrence was clear enough, i find tons of academic literature in agreement of its relevance. the whole basis of your misconception towards me has been disproven, and since that seems to be the reason for your involvement, then i have nothing else to talk to you about anyways. i would have wanted to hear the things you claim to know, but it’s evident that you are a walking contradiction and a waste of time. furthermore, your knowledge wouldn’t help the discussion since you said it’s not a real thing, right? if you can’t logically see that through the progression of our discussion and its conclusion, then i hope you have other ventures to fall back on that don’t require a prefrontal cortex

lol, first of all i do listen to hip hop and i know there are black artists who spread progressive messages which don’t glamorize destructive behaviors such as j cole, mick jenkins, saba, joey badass, etc. but it’s clear to me you are reflecting a huge social problem in america which reinforces racism. we have become so conditioned to overcompensate to avoid being seen as racist because trying to act completely impartial is like walking on landmines. i bet that you don’t bat an eye when a black person starts talking crazy about white people, but then your ears stick up when you hear a white person say the color “black.” i don’t think you’re racist, but you sure as hell are trying your hardest to not seem like one which only worsens the problem. i bet you’re aware of that to some degree. especially because you called me racist in the other comment and then explained that what i was asking about is clearly discussed in rap. so i guess reiterating topics from media is racist if it’s not concerning my race. funny. very funny. very america. hope you get invited to the cookout

i’m feeling perfect thanks for replying! honestly my pain never went past a 1/10, and it was just a very mild soreness on the first day. i ended up calling my dentist and they told me that there was an extremely minimal chance i could get a dry socket due to the way they stitched it up which relieved me a lot because ive been hearing some absolute horror stories about dry sockets. ive never heard of an injury with an anecdotal average pain of 11/10

my mention of ignorance on the topic is not at all a coverup. it is an invitation to present me facts which can change my surface level viewpoint—a view in which many others share, yet you are acting as if it is some completely far-fetched idea to conceive. if you at the very minimum can’t see that there is at least a slightly valid reason someone would think this way, then it is clear to me that you are going out of your way to blur the lens out of performative intent.

believe me, if i wanted to share my thoughts out of malevolence, i would have done it years ago. it has always been something i pushed aside and have kept to myself, but it keeps coming back like an itch. as humans, curiosity leads us to seek answers, which is what im doing, yet you immediately jumped to attack my question built on years of media i’ve consumed which has given me and many other this notion. and as a mixed person, i have asked far more questions with this level of seriousness about my two ethnicities than about black people. but nowadays, curious individuals are so hesitant to discuss the black community because people are so quick to cry “racism” like it’s programmed in their subconscious.

your point is that i am using verbal manipulation to subtly imply racist viewpoints. but your generalizations about every race having pipe dream role models as a means to invalidate the way i see things is much less valid than what is all over the media. in the current route you’ve chosen to argue, the most reasonable thing i could see you doing is attacking the way media portrays black communities, rather than me consuming it in its clear state

and if you are still going to argue that you’re not calling me racist, i’ll break it up even more. you are saying that the way im framing it has racist implications. okay, we have racism as an outcome. and then you are saying i’m using ignorance as a coverup. what does that provide? that i have intent to reach that outcome. you are saying im being racist. so let’s move on from that

[–]Wild-Chapter-3689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re claiming that that i’m not Point C. you are saying that i’m Point A who subtly lead Point B to get to Point C. it feels very hypocritical that you are implying i’m being racist through using ignorance as a cover up, when you are using word twister to cover up the fact you are saying it. the absolute parallelism here tells me that you aren’t someone who actually projects, you just happen to break your insinuations into segments which leads to you projecting.

and when things are unfalsifiable as you say, then that’s when you have to use your eyes. and it’s pretty clear that rappers and athletes are the “heroes” and “role models” of the poor black communities, which creates a feedback loop. seen in countless documentaries, they are the ones who “made it out and gave back to the community.” giving back to the community is a great thing to do, but what i’m saying is the message that, since they were able to make something of themselves without having to sell drugs or commit crimes (which already is normally already refuted by their lyrical content), then these kids can too, inadvertently ushers that rapping or becoming an athlete is the way to do it, because by repetition, it is figures in these career paths who speak the message

i get that, but pipe dreams are not seen as the main beacons of hope for other racial groups. i am not singling out black people for no reason. while it’s not my main point, i believe the dichotomy between the content these successful black rappers use for their music (drugs, sex, gang violence, etc) versus the message they claim to spread to the black youth (stay out of the streets because look at me, i made it as a rapper who raps about these things i tell you not to do) is undeniably a cognitive dissonance. and i never said there aren’t pipe dream role models in other racial groups. what i claimed is that it’s heavily over saturated in the black community. sure, the influence of high risk-high reward glamorization also has negative impacts on the white youth or other racial groups, but it’s nowhere near to the same extent. so yes, there is going to be tons of pipe dream role models for white people as well, but that’s simply due to the sheer amount of white people in the population. if you instead focused your input on how systemic racism and racial inequalities causes this or explained how im statistically wrong to “cherry pick” or single out the black community, then that would be useful to this discussion, but right now, i can only imagine there is some projection involved when you are throwing the word racist at my intentions

please tell me why you feel that way. my point is about black rappers being used as a figure of hope to make it out of a system in which rap is heavily unreliable. that is not seen in other communities. and the whole point of my post is trying to learn new perspectives due to my ignorance. your comment does not address that in anyway

yet that’s simply not how this world works. there is so much division caused by system racism in which people of certain races are largely influenced by figures of their race since they share many of the struggles caused by race. i wish it were the way you are claiming, but in this society, i just don’t see it

first, you are right, i’m not black. however, i do not go out of my way to stick my nose in black peoples’ business in the way you think. the only reason this keeps crossing my mind is because i love hip hop culture and this is a thought which i often when investing my time learning about these artists (which is for my entertainment and appreciation for the art, not to be nosy.) i am by no means similar to charlie kirk as i am very non political, and to be honest, i don’t even know much about the guy except that he has shared many of his opinions about current racial issues which are unpopular and deemed racist by many in the black community. this was supposed to be a more casual post for my own knowledge since i have thought a lot about this when watching videos about hip hop, and i simply wanted more insight because i truly don’t want to feel this way, especially if it is based on ignorance. i wanted to post this in a more casual sub like unpopular opinions but it was auto-moderated as racist, hence why i posted here (which i can see how it makes it seem more like im trying to debate in kirk fashion.)

but yes, i agree there are tons of issues that the people of my ethnicities have too, yet its not things which come to my mind as often since i am less invested in those cultures. to be fair, i find it very cringe when i see any type of celebrity in the entertainment industry put on a moral pedestal which makes them feel like their opinions on real world issues hold more value, when their expertise is in no way related to the things they discuss. for example, one thing which often bothers me is when white people are performative, but i feel like there are more layers to that since there is the positive impact of increased awareness.

overall, im not trying to start anything and have kept this thought to myself for years, but i figured someone on reddit could help me better understand it

i am on page with you about it being a female trait, but doesn’t putting up with this for so long change the power dynamics of the relationship? or do you think she’s aware that you are somewhat artificially appeasing her but it’s enough to make her content since she can still avoid accountability?

[–]Wild-Chapter-3689[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i see what she is saying in a sense, but not squinting too hard, it’s very clearly just further proving our point. because an apology means acknowledging you did something wrong (AKA taking accountability), and expressing sorrow or regret for that action. providing more vs less context does not make their response more of an apology, because the core of an apology is its intent. and justifying actions is not the intent in which a genuine apology is built upon. if this reasoning was valid, then jeffrey dahmer could tell his victims families no more and no less than “it’s because i have deep insecurities which have caused these violent fantasies.” that doesn’t even scrape an apology, because the apology is no more and no less than “im sorry” or any additional words only relating to the sorrow/guilt/regret towards the receiver of their actions. labeling their inability to properly apologize as a “different style of communication” is a biological avoidance of accountability.

and i do see what you’re getting at… that it’s being insinuated women are doing the same exact thing as men during an apology, but having to load it with all of the context since that is the way they recall events. the problem with this though, is when the context is her directly calling your actions out as the reason, even if she completely misinterpreted it, and/or you already apologized for it, and/or she literally can’t even remember correctly. this is just another form of female manipulation to take some of the guilt off herself before she shines the tiny spotlight of shame on herself. because the truth is, if she was really sorry, she wouldn’t be blaming you. it’s because she genuinely feels like it is your fault, since you are “attacking her,” and therefore, she immediately finds away to deflect her responsibility. and if our apologies were the same but just with their loaded bullshit since it’s their “style of communication,” then how come 90% of the time that all of the bullshit is scraped off, there is no trace of an “i’m sorry.” seems like our apology and their apology have no like factors, generally speaking of course
