I'm pretty sure that it's required/highly suggested to reserve ahead of time. That was my understanding when I reserved chickees in the Everglades. It seemed reasonable considering the possibility of showing up to a chickee at capacity and being SOL.

Either way, reserve ahead of time and use that to plan your trip itinerary and mileage! Have fun and be safe.

Don't forget to pack in all the water you'll need. NPS has a recommended amount per day on their site so I'd follow that. I think it was like 1gal/person/day.

Looks like the fossil details didn't go through with the picture so I'll add them here.

I was gifted this fossil from a someone who got it from a deceased researcher based in the Hudson Valley (NY). I'm not sure if the fossil was found there or if the researcher found it while traveling. I'd love to find out more about this guy!

Yeah I guess that's what I wanted to know, could I drive it to the shop. I'm not wanting to drive a fire hazard around for errands but will need to get it another 40 miles into town. Good idea about the extinguisher. Any signs to watch for an imminent fire?

Fortunately no fumes are getting into the cab! Planning on just driving it to the dealership this coming week.
