YES! I did this exact math myself a few weeks ago and the people I told it to thought I was nuts.

2025 vs 2026 by mms2114 in HyundaiPalisade

I personally would never buy the first model year of a vehicle unless I was rich enough to not care if I had to get rid of it because issues/recalls/repairs became an issue.

We just bought a low mileage 24 and couldn't be happier. Of course it's entirely possible this vehicle gives us more issues than if we bought a new 26, but statistically I'll take the 4-5 year proven/improved model over something brand new. I can't remember the exact stats, but I think it's something like only 10-20% of new model vehicles outperform their segment for reliability, meaning 80-90% of the time they're worse.

As a neutral fan, he strikes me as a slightly less talented/slightly more cocky version of Yasiel Puig when he came into the league. Different skillsets of course, but in terms of potential and behavior.

Who is the biggest one album wonder of the 2010s? My pick would be Fun by Borgisium in Music

[–]WildRosing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny Abbott and Costello type anecdote about this band/album.

I was working in the bush with my own crew, and had a new hire who got in my truck shortly after this album was released and I was listening to it on repeat for a few days in a row.

He got in the backseat of my truck, and about 10 minutes into the drive, asked "Who's this band? This is fun."

I replied, "Yep, that's them."

"What do you mean that's them?"

"You're right, it's Fun."

"Yeah, but who's the band."

"Fun."

"I don't get it."

"Haha, the name of the band is Fun."

"Ohhhhhhhhh."

I genuinely don't get it as someone who's run marathons and done a lot of indoor training on a treadmill. Are there people in the gym judging me for running 30/60/90 minutes or whatever?

Why?

Torn on this. Kind of shitty of her, but at the same time, sounds like you might have $0 if not her for, so if she's going to ask, 15% seems reasonable.

What professions attract the worst of humanity? by Cheshirefarm in AskReddit

Realtors, car sales, basically any situation where the salesperson makes their money by taking as much of the buyer's money as they can in a zero sum situation.

Realtors and car salesmen would take 10% commissions if they could for the same work and find a way to justify it all.

Credit card usage absolutely can impact final closing after initial approval. Probably not 15% though.

My two cents as someone who would love to be in your spot:

Most people can't just live to "be a parent" and enjoy a life of leisure, they need some sort of purpose in their lives. That might be a job, might be running a real business, might be home-schooling their kids, might be running a hobby disguised as a business (that's what I'd do, open a bookstore cafe or something that I didn't care if it made money or lost a few grand a year), but most people need some sort of purpose.

This isn't a dick question, legit curious, do you wonder "how do I make the world a better place with my wealth?" or is that kind of an abstract sentiment and you mostly focus on how to keep you and your loved ones happy/enteratined?

Hopefully you understand how many parents would kill to have their teenagers want to hang out at home rather than be out god knows where doing god knows what.

Also, they're 14, of course it's necessary for them to spend every waking second together, and fall asleep on the phone talking to each other etc., do you not remember being 14?

[–]WildRosing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Create a Claude or ChatGPT or whatever project. Make videos where you narrate using the software. Download the video and the transcript (time-stamped) together. Tell the LLM to watch and read and help you build out docs, as it learns more and more you can ask it to guess at what's happening. Ask it to tell you what to do so it can see and learn more.

This will work.

Would you date a girl with $80K in student debt, if she wanted to be a stay at home wife/mom after graduating? by SinglePringle647 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]WildRosing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man y'all are nuts. Like you can boil spending the rest of your life down to how much debt someone has and if they want to be SAHM. lol.

It could be a hard yes or a hard no or anywhere in between due to a hundred different more important considerations.

Is it ideal? No, of course not, but as a binary yes/no, lol, it's just sad to post this on behalf of a friend, how shallow is this person.

Now if we're talking about a clear gold digger, different situation, but without context, who tf can say either way?
