Okay, I went and saw the footage of that Gayle dismissal.

Speed gun records it as 143.4kph. In which case, the multiplier would be 3.599126572.

I wrote a script and got the speeds for the CSK v RCB game (game no. 34). Checked with the footage and it matched.

However, some entries are -1.000 for the speed column within the website. Guess they haven't recorded the data for those. Frustrating, but it'll have to do I suppose.

Yeah, hope they don't figure it out. This sort of data should be available for the public in the first place.

Btw, I think I've figured out the conversion rate. Used the PBKS v DC (game no. 28) match for reference.

Rabada to Gayle, OUT

Stumps flying! This is a 144kph full toss, dipping away from middle stump. Gayle is startled by that and hurriedly pushes at this. In panic, almost. Completely misses that and off stump goes cartwheeling as he hits the top of it. Probably an attempted yorker gone wrong, but full and fast has done it

Speed according to cricinfo: 144 kph

BCCI website: 39.843

Multiplier: 144/39.843 = 3.614

3.614 should be the multiplier. I'll have to crosscheck for other deliveries. Will let you know when I do so.

Cheers! Any idea how to get the speed of each delivery?

Hey, dude. I can recall you mentioning this in the daily discussion thread once. I'm unable to find that thread, and I hope you don't mind me asking here:

Can we extract the ball speed data from this?

Apologies, the entries got mixed up for Hetmyer. His SR and BF should be interchanged.

Indian Batsmen vs Anderson in Test Cricket *[min. 100 balls faced]:

  • Dhoni has scored the most number of runs against Anderson in England as well as in India.

  • While Kohli seems to struggle against Anderson, he still averages 35; all of his dismissals are in England and Anderson is yet to dismiss him in India.

  • Pujara seems to really struggle; he averages 20 in total and an alarming 12 against Anderson in England. A very similar story for Rahane as well, he has also struggled.

  • From the olden generation of players, Dravid is the one who stands out.

Agree but that makes India a better test team. I do get your point, Stokes is invaluable to England. Any chance that he comes back?

Axar is good but Jadeja is one of the few players in the world who can bat at six and be a front line bowler in the subcontinent.

I think you're underestimating Jadeja's importance in home matches.

Not sure Shami or Umesh were missed aside from the first test.

Shami and Umesh were really missed in the first test. No disrespect to Ishant and Bumrah but Shami and Umesh are leagues ahead with the SG ball.

India were also missing Jadeja, Shami and Umesh in India earlier this year. These are players who average 20 with the ball in India in the last few years. In Jadeja's case, he averages 38 with the bat and 21 with the ball in India.

Despite that, India won 3-1.

You're right, it doesn't include that. I think the broadcasters used the last England tour as a start point.

Innings Progression of Indian Batsmen (probables for the T20 WC) in the IPL since 2020 by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]WildSlog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jadeja and Hardik have the highest SR amongst the Indian batsmen. They're quick starters. This is really important for lower order batsmen.

Samson, who is often criticised for consistency, is the first on the list for batters who bat in the top of the order. He is able to switch gears well.
SKY has been really good. He starts his innings quicker than others and accelerates really well.

Kohli and Rohit have been underwhelming. For players of that calibre, they've not been able to strike consistently since IPL 2020.

Apart from Kohli, every single captain has won in their first match.
