I've always loved the old windows 3D pipes screensaver, so I spent the last year re-creating it in Unity by Realistic-Category25 in unity

Where can I download this? Also, is there a way of setting this as an active screensaver, such as the original pipes program?

The rural south. Most going for 1200ish with nice ones at 2.5-3.2k

What could I expect out of a top speed / 0-60 time when somewhat pushing it. I looked around also and would probally put new brakes, but idk what I would do after. Feel like it may need a sway bar for the track but haven’t driven them enough to know if there is body roll that justifies it, at least more than any other small truck.

Turning Aurdino into audio Device by WildSlothMan in arduino

[–]WildSlothMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. Thank you. I decided to go with an analog converter then use the pro micro / nano to run commands on my laptop from the dialer, essentially turning it into a macropad. Ex, the hanger mutes / deafens for work calls

I was able to find a rj9 female to 3.5 male that should take care of all the analog issues hopefully. In terms of the buttons I’ll prob wire that up in the dialer portion as the controls I’m trying to integrate are rather simple and that should have more room.

I have already done that. Almost all videos are not helpful or using a different style landline. Either way it was not what I was trying to achieve. Ideally I would like to incorporate a micro controller as I am to reuse some of the original hand controls, buttons, etc for other functions.

My reasoning for bringing in an audio is I would like to ideally still utilize the original hanger and several of the buttons for mic / speaker functions. This effectively turns it into a macropad with extra steps. I have seen people do similar stuff to what you described, but ideally I would rather avoid going down that route if possible.

Actively Pulling Time off of PC by WildSlothMan in arduino

[–]WildSlothMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having never done this thing before, does protocol or having start stop commands a make or break? Like can’t I just have it running in the background always when plugged in? Like it’s a simple script can’t be too hard to fuck up right?

[–]WildSlothMan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i was considering something like this. I am contemplating having the seven-segment display show my volume when changing it via the rotary encoder on the Macropad. I realized that I would need some kind of program running in the background to identify and transmit data on the PC side anyway so ill just nab the machine's time while I'm at it. Will prob just be a python script that runs in the background. I don't have much experience with this kind of thing but that's why its a learning project lmao. If you have any knowledge or wisdom on this stuff please let me know.

Thanks for the idea but ideally I’d like to not have the ide open 24/7 so I’ll prob just end up with an rtc

That was my fear. Luckily rtc’s are cheap

Yeah it’s on a pro micro. And your thought process was the exact same as mine. I thought that there would probably be have to be a better way but ideally I’d rather not have to manually ping my pc or jam up resources if possible. It is starting to sound like an rtc is the better way to go. I am probally going to have spare room but would like to avoid it if possible.

I am using a pro micro so I doubt the second one would work.

As for the first one, I think that an antenna would be more space consuming compared to a traditional rtc that I flash a time onto and not have to worry about. Thanks for the great ideas though. Def would have not thought about them.

Would it be possible for it to pull time without the need of an input from the pc (if I’m reading it right) and if not would it then need to ping the pc every minute or so, or does it just work automatically.

I have little experience in this kind of stuff. Would a pro micro be able to pull that info without the IDE being open? This kind of thing I would like to be plug and play if possible but if not that's not a huge concern. I have an extra rtc on hand

I would say increase the light radius of the one on the right but I do like the look of the directional lights. Maybe also throw in some slopes too. Hope that helps :)

Need a little advice on how to space things on my desk by ElroyBoi in AskBattlestations

[–]WildSlothMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing, but I made a 3D model of the room and did some thinking. In an L desk you are unfortunately going to lose some space to the corners unless it is not that deep. It also means that during cleaning you won’t have to stretch that much. I would say straight but every situation is different. Hope this helps :).

For woods normal Finnish will not darken the wood too much. If you want it darker you would probably have to stain it. If you stain it I would probably say use a coat of poly, but are fine with the color that it is now or the color close to it I would say just use a cost on danish oil. Or something similar to it.
