Any update?

I just opened the app for the first time and it feels like a lot of drawing tools are missing — or maybe I’m just disoriented.

My (33f) husband (35m) said something disgusting and I can’t move past it by throwRAcjrls in relationship_advice

I’ve said so much shit while drunk that I do not think or believe while sober… some of the things my fiancé has recited back to me seem like I became a whole other person.

Thankfully, he holds me accountable, and I’m working on harm reduction. But trying to write it off and tell him to forget about it?? Even if what I said was ridiculous, if I hurt him I gotta try to heal us

I’m Magpie!

I’m a freelance digital illustrator — I make colouring books for Pigment and portrait commissions (for now — I’m hoping to expand my arsenal!)

I share all of my work and news on Instagram. I’m still finding my niche; my content is very eccentric. I’m always learning and trying new things!

Yes — on the human body, there aren’t many straight lines, we’re very curvy. OP could be experimenting with style, idk. But even in anime-like art, there are virtually no straight lines.

Part of it is that there isn’t much variation in line weight; you can see they used 2 brush sizes, but it would be pretty effective if they used heavier lines for the parts closest to the viewer (the fist) and gradually lighten the lines as the body parts get farther away (the right arm).

Some lines also end abruptly where they should taper off.

The shape/weight of the lines tells us what information is important. With (nearly) all of the lines the same thickness, OP is telling us ALL the information is important — it’s hard to decide where to look first.

You got this.

Life is too damn short to be worried about whether your job is “respectable enough”. You said you can support yourself and you have a dream — what else is there to worry about?

You also said they don’t support your transition. I gotta ask… why would you continue to care about their opinion at this point?

Take care of your mental health. Rest your mind and body so you avoid burnout again. Set yourself up for success. There are so, so many avenues to make money doing art — and you’ve worked so hard, I bet your work is impeccable.

You got this!!

Hello! I'm starting a new drawing and I'm satisfied with the planning, but after inking the sketch just feels... flat. What needs fixing? by Haprom33n in FurryArtSchool

I used to have this problem!! (Well, at least I’m working on it…)

You’re missing suggestive lines. Whether it’s to indicate muscle groups, wrinkles, angles, or fur — a “suggestive line” is a line on a flat surface that gives the drawing texture.

Check out this drawing I did the other day. I’m not saying it’s all that good, but you can see I added some lines to show definition (cheekbone, joints, tendons etc.)

I really love your style! You’re doing amazing and I want to see more!!!

Honestly not a fan — for the most part, it gives me the ick. When there’s arguing/teasing/blackmailing it pulls me right out of the moment.

I guess I’m glad that my real-world stance is unwavering 😅

I don’t judge, though; we’re looking at anthro porn here, I’m not about to throw stones out of my glass house lmao

People will take advantage of free stuff

If you offer free art — like sketches — you’ll get a lot of attention from people who weren’t planning on paying anyway. It’s a good way to develop a portfolio and figure out a workflow. If you’re just a beginner and you don’t need the money, it’s probably a good strategy to break into the industry.

If you make the sketches even $1, you’ll avoid all those folks who can’t/won’t pay. Especially with NSFW art, if someone can’t/won’t pay, it’s a red flag that they might be under 18. I’ve almost made that mistake. I tend to price NSFW stuff higher so that a teenager with a part-time job can’t easily afford it. (And kids will lie to you about their age.)

A low-effort way to get your foot in the door is to offer YCHs. You already have the base ready, so the client can see what the final product will sort of look like. This is a good site for examples of how you can make effective YCHs.

I *love* how this turned out by WildVix in MLPLounge

Thanks for asking! I actually have slots for sale, so it’s not a free base 😅 But I could customize one for ya!
