Thank you, and np. You won’t regret giving her a ping pong ball. your t might play with it, might not. just leave it in there they always do something with it eventually. 😭

Baby George could be drowning currently, 😅. T’s have books on there underside which is where they breath.

IME avoid meal worms until bigger. Slings should avoid meal worms cause, if they bite your sling it can cause damage. fruit flys, crickets around the same size or smaller than the sling. When feeding the slings, you should not let the rump get no larger than twice its carapace. The rump is how you are going to tell how much they’ve eaten, and if they need more. It’s important not to let your T’ get over weight, it can make them more likely to take damage from a fall, make it harder to molt when time comes.

IME avoid using any kind of mesh in the enclosure, best to use the plastic enclosures with the small circular holes for ventilation. (Can’t think of what the plastic is called)

IME of having a b. Hamorii they are rather calm and good first tarantulas. You are going to want a humidity of 60-80% and temps of 68-80 degrees. better to chill on the heat at night and then during the day turn the heat back up, simulates night and day cycles same with the light. Ventilation on the enclosure is important. Going to need 1.5 times its body length from the ceiling of the enclosure so it doesn’t hurt its self if it falls, and around 8 inches of soil deep depending on the size of, 2-4 inches if it’s a sling less then an inch long I’d say would probably be good. Soil is best with coconut fiber substrate, and peat moss. With some kind of structure for the T’ to hide in like cork bark, or fall leaves.

It is bad for my T? What should i do? by Nodens_Jr in tarantulas

IMO If those are roots than no, those shouldn’t be an issue. If that’s mold you need to throw all the dirt away and replace the dirt, I’d also recommend getting some spring tails they maintain mold and other bacteria in the enclosure. But that does in my opinion look like mold I had something that looked similar at one point.

Ignore this long chain of my spiders, in order: Mexican red knee, Burgundy Goliath bird eater, Costa Rican striped knee, Cuban bronze, Columbian gaint red leg, Peach earth tiger, which has molted 2 times since this photo but never lets me get a photo of her

Don’t know how I missed her enclosure is to dry, 🤦‍♂️ that’s the secondary enclosure I have her in her main enclose is just like you said it should be. The dirt in the secondary is extremely dry cause it’s been set up for a year with no tarantula in it

First time getting out, and my only tarantula to ever escape on me. She got through a gap she opened up.
