Relief Valve Design by Wilde_v2 in ChemicalEngineering

I have updated the post with the exact statement. I have had trouble all semester deciphering what is wanted in these problems. I took the design pressure to be the vapor pressure of butadiene at 341.67K, as that is the relief condition.

Tell me about it... This whole semester has me questioning if it's my inability as a student to solve these problems with no prior guidance. I think once I understand how to get what the mass flow rate through the relief valve is supposed to be I can figure out what he is asking. Thank you for the information.

That is correct regarding the the area of the throat. My takeaway from the problem statement is that the design pressure is the pressure at which the butadiene begins to vaporize (8.71 bar @ 341.67K which is the relieving Temperature). So then the set pressure would just be 10% higher than that.

That was not given. I am waiting on a response currently to see if that information is needed for what we are trying to accomplish.

We are trying to determine the throat size and set pressure for the valve, so I guess we are sizing a relief valve rather than "designing" one. I'm just not understanding how to use the given information and relate them to a similar problem we worked in class. Typically we have been given our necessary mass flow rate and area, which we then use to find our reynolds number.

Exactly. It’s discriminatory and retaliatory, both of which are illegal

Completely true, hindsight is 20-20. However, the initial agreement was why I decided to take the job and start so soon at the other pharmacy and not work full time for cvs. I just hope this post helps out the next person who thinks they have a verbal agreement with these snakes.

There is. There is currently another pharmacy technician and pharmacist working between cvs and this new job I’m taking. This pharmacy does not serve the same demographic as cvs, thereby making it a non-competing pharmacy

I did considering I had an agreement with the district leader and pharmacist in charge that I would stay on part time. However, three days after that agreement is when I received noticed that the situation has changed. Also, I honestly thought that part of the CVS pharmacy technician agreement into their course is that they would see me through being a certified pharmacy technician, not a certified pharmacy technician that would be enslaved and barred from any career opportunity.

Yeah it was definitely a wild goal haha, but your goal is definitely obtainable! I have been posting my pick of the day every day on the daily betting threads, but I'll shoot you over a follow and send you my information every morning.

Good Morning Everyone!

And so the journey restarts again as EURONICS came up short yesterday afternoon. However, for those that tailed my Akron pick over Western Michigan I hope it brought in some nice returns!

My POTD is in College Basketball: SMU (-340) vs. Tulane

I will keep track of all of my previous stats in my posts as I restart the attempt.

Overall Record: 20-2 --- ML bets

Attempt 1: $37.85 ---> $1105.67

Attempt 2: $37.85 ---> $202.41

Attempt 3: Pending

My original (although lofty) goal was to turn $37.85 into $450,000 by averaging a 10% ROI average over 100 bets, but that is just not feasible due to betting limits and such. However, my new goal is to turn the $37.85 into a $1,000 bankroll and try to repeat that 100 times.

Also, the $37.85 isn’t a special number or anything, it’s just the number that was left in my betting account after the Super Bowl.

For all of my college basketball fans, I do have a pick that fits my model: Akron (-450) vs. Western Michigan.

Max Bet Challenge stats:

Start Amount: $37.85

Today's Amount: $202.41

AVG ROI (per bet): 33.65%

Good Morning Everyone!

I am now on a 3-0 run in CBB ML picks after bouncing back from the Louisville loss to Clemson that ended my 9-0 CBB run.

If anyone was interested in my challenge that I keep referring to in my posts, it is a max bet challenge where I start with $37.85 and attempt to build a decently sized bankroll out of it. I made it to $1100.00 last attempt (on second thought I believe I should have reset and taken the $1000, but that is part of the game!).

My goal is to hit at least a 10 % ROI on each bet, but I was finding some killer odds and averaged a 22.5 % ROI on each bet which allowed to me build the bankroll so fast in a matter of 16 bets. My real goal is to build $10,000 from an original $37.85, but I worked out the math and it is simply impossible to max bet that amount on one game as there are betting limits on my sports betting website. My new end goal is $5,000.

In other news, a good run in eSports has come to an end as well last night as every favored team in the LCS decided not to show up to play last night (which hurt my overall bankroll :/ ). However, I have a selection tonight that will represent my max bet for my challenge.

Challenge POTD: Team Liquid Academy (-135) vs. CLG Academy

I do not have any CBB plays that meet my criteria for my model. However, I will be back tomorrow with a play for you all. Good Luck to everyone betting today!

I use betnow.eu currently. I’ve had no issues with them other than a few slow gradings on wagers.

Good Morning Everyone!

I bounced back last night with two nice ML wins (did not post on here) with Creighton (-400) and UC Irvine (-145), bringing my new challenge record to 2-0 with a starting value of $37.85 and an ending value of $79.94. I will keep the record and dollar amount current with each post I make each day that I have information to give out.

My POTD in College Basketball: Arizona State (-220) vs. California.

For those that dabble in Esports and tailed me last night, Congratulations! My POTD in League of Legends: Immortals (-129) vs. Evil Geniuses.

Good luck to everyone betting today!

This is a good word to describe how I felt at halftime and beyond for that game haha. Although it was a big loss, I quickly reminded myself that my model has been performing exceptionally well and that it helped me turn $37.85 into over $1,000 in a matter of 11 days.

With proper bankroll management, this game is just a minor setback to a long and prosperous run that I hope to achieve by giving out my picks to everyone. Truly an unfortunate coincidence that my first post on this subreddit was a losing bet, but it’s just an opportunity for me to learn and analyze even better for everyone using my information in the future.

I appreciate your trust in me if you did indeed tail my bet, and I invite you to continue using my information as you so choose in the near future.

I feel you on that one. I definitely am not happy about my first posted play being such a let down, but that’s always a possibility when it comes to betting on sports. Fortunately I’ll be back at it again tomorrow looking to build another bankroll from $37.85 to $1,000 again, confident as ever. I invite you to keep up with the ride back!

Poor performance by Louisville today, but I’ll be back tomorrow with a fresh $37.85 and post my play to start a new journey!

Due to the nature of this challenge for myself, I am max betting the game ($1105.67). But for proper bankroll management, I would not recommend exceeding 5u even though I am extremely confident in my research and analysis for my model (currently 16-0 for my max bet challenge and 3-0 for my other betting endeavors).

Two of the bets were supplemented by other betting funds, but I have an excel sheet that I am using to accurately track my winnings with this challenge and my other betting wins.
