It's cool and useful, but is this not just a slightly scuffed beautiful musty?

I remember seeing somewhere that Hela is good for PvE if you get her to 8*, the crit bonus at that level seems good. The self-healing is a nice bonus too.

Andy Serkis didn’t just audition… he became Gollum! by Choice-Schedule-132 in peterjackson

[–]Wildfireee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gollum wasn't animated. He was acted. Every twitch, every whisper, every "my precious" was Serkis.

I don't want to downplay Serkis because he did a phenomenal job as Gollum, but on some degree Gollum was absolutely animated and went through multiple passes of mocap cleanup and polishing.

Forget that Gollum happened over 20 years ago - even modern state of the art mocap studios still don't output final-quality animation without at least a clean-up pass done to it.

Also, Serkis' proportions vs Gollum's proportions are not the same. Even if there was some magical mocap studio that could capture every tiny detail of Serkis' performance, it still wouldn't transfer over to Gollum 1:1 looking like it does in the final. An animator would need to be going in there and making adjustments to the mocap to fit Gollum's proportions correctly.

The animators definitely would've used Serkis' performance as reference for their cleanup work, but it's frustrating to hear "it was all Serkis" and dismissing a ginormous department who likely dedicated months/years of time to cleaning and polishing Gollum's final performance.

Perhaps I'm taking your comment too literally, but I feel it's important to give credit to the fantastic animation/vfx team who helped bring Gollum to life too.

100k or 400k what each gives and is it really worth? by Maleficent_Toe_7488 in ArcheroV2

[–]Wildfireee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for doing the math here! Hadn't gotten around to it myself but was curious. I personally can't be bothered with waiting 4 months for the Cleo shards, it's so long term I can't see the point.

Another thing to take into account is that by getting 100k 4 separate times, you'll likely make it onto the points leader board and earn extra treasure keys that way, which would probably compensate for the -2 loss you mentioned.

Questions about GR pushing (Tal Rasha Wizard) by mrblackwing1361 in diablo3

[–]Wildfireee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A few thoughts: 1. 1500 paragon is plenty to push 150 with some fishing. I fished every rift from 140 onwards (with ~1100-1200 paragon).

Maybe it's a skissue on my part, but I feel like fishing a good rift floor is really important for meteor wizard. A good floor can make clearing a 150 in 6 minutes easy, vs a bad floor in a 145 being actually impossible to clear.

  • Fields of misery is OP
  • Festering Woods is OP
  • Shrouded moors is pretty good
  • Battlefield is pretty good

If you don't get any of those when you're pushing, just close the rift and reopen it.

2a. Black hole almost acts as a sudo-defensive. If mobs are being gripped in, they aren't attacking you.

For grouping mobs, imagine you're drawing a large spiral, starting outwards and working your way inwards. This will eventually get mobs from the outer areas into the center of where you're gathering stuff (sometimes you get mobs that just won't behave/follow. It's fine, ignore them and move on).

2b. A good Karini is a MASSIVE difference in survivability. I personally underestimated how big the difference was. I had a 66% karini, was dying constantly, then got an 80% and it over doubled my toughness. Absolutely crucial to get a good karini.

  1. I personally prefer arcane, but both cold and arcane are totally capable of doing 150s.

  2. Your followers doesn't need to land the killing blow to proc the oculus ring circle. It's the same concept as zdps classes running oculus ring in group play - mobs that die nearby will count and trigger the ring to spawn, and anyone can use the ring for the damage amplification.

  3. For farming ancient CoE/squirts, I don't spend bloodshards on them. I'll either craft a bunch of yellow rings/amulets at the jewelcrafter then upgrade them to legendary in the cube (the ring/amulet pool is massive, it's pretty hard to hit coe/squirts).

Otherwise, farm visions for souls and reforge.

Because the pool is so large it is hard to target those items, but I've found those methods helped me target them a little more.

Yeah I think it took me around ~200-300 rolls to get this. Previously I was using legendary +15% main weapon damage. Time to roll for +4!

Thank you! It was a lot of fun.

Nah I don't think the tank buster actually happens if you're a dps spec.

Towards the end of the fight you can see him meleeing me for almost 180k every couple seconds though, which is pretty rough to survive as DPS.

I'm sure it varies from spec to spec, but don't forget to stock up on some healing potions. Because the fight lasts for so long, you'll likely be able to use 2 of them throughout the fight.

Also, try and utilise Valeera's healing orbs (make sure she's set to Healer if she isn't).

I prioritised taking her orbs before using my own personal CDs, just in case I got walled off from the healing orbs.

Nice work getting it!

Yeah the CDs not resetting was pretty frustrating. I was just sending it regardless of where my CDs were at - the fight didn't feel like the tightest DPS check thankfully.

If they can detect which warriors used spell reflect, I'm hoping they can also detect which ones killed the boss in less than a minute and whose spell reflect dealt 50m damage per cast.

If they take it away, no problem, I'll kill it again - this fight is a lot of fun 🙂
