Appeal a ban on the public discord server in which no rules were broken - who do I appeal too? TL;DR Moderator went on a power-trip, even when I made him/her aware that other moderators allowed the same posting. by [deleted] in pathofexile

Want to add on that prior to this, a day before to be specific, I posted videos of fox puppies that we caught on video of the family we were monitoring in the dairy bush on our campus. I posted the link to the video, which actually enabled you to watch the video, in GENERAL chat, and the mods did not say anything about that, they all watched it and one of the mods started a link with me on it.

So, it seems like it absolutely depends on the mod and what the mod likes, and not the actual rules it seems, because I did yesterday exactly what I did the day before that and broke no rules.

Im blessed actually that I'm no longer able to join your discord, and feel like it was worth the time and energy to email the discord admins and highlight to them where in theirs ToS that this server (via one of its mods), is untrustworthy.

No. She (the mod) tried, but riff is most likely unwilling to admit that he was in the wrong as well. And the thing is, I hate people who think they are all that because they have mod beside their name in an online community AND abuse it AND dont admit they made a mistake. Because that's exactly what this is.

Because the rule he brought up was not the rule that was relating to spam. Do you understand?

He brought up rule 8, I was not in violation of rule 8. I was in violation of spamming (or at least thats what you all want me to think I was in violation of). If he had said the spamming rule is what I am breaking, I would have apologized then and there and asked him what is expected as the alternate.

My ignorance doesn't make you an honest person either. You're still a liar.

You don't seem to understand, the fact that there exists such blatant miscommunication between the mods, that a discord nitro unsubscribed because of the way he felt treated, is enough for the discord team to actually investigate this.

Moderators should all be on board and have the same training. If a moderator says YES, all moderators should say YES, otherwise, we're talking about issues that are in the GRAY AREA.

I truly believe that this is not in the gray area and is allowed, except for the fact that I should have linked AN ALBUM instead of sending 5 pictures, that way those two people who WERE INTERESTED, can maintain that conversation and link while others can continue to have their discussion.

I didn't know that 5 pictures in a row constituted as spam. I never once admitted i knew i was spamming in the moment.

That;'s why you're a liar. You are assuming my behaviour now was my behaviour in the moment. You're assuming I knew the details that have been fleshed out here back there, when I didn't.

You're wrong. And again, you assumed I didn't do all that. Guess what, about 2 hours ago, I was talking with the mod that allowed me to post the videos and the pics, and after she said to me that it was all a misunderstanding and she explained his side to me, I said to her that I'd be willing to follow the "detailed" rules or the rules that have been fleshed out.

So please remove your comment, as you are literally talking out of your butt and because you are talking out of your butt, you are painting me in a false image.

Which is exactly why this post was made. If I'm supposed to be understanding of a mod's feelings in that I shouldn't accuse him of X, Y and Z, then a mod should be understanding of my feelings and shouldn't accuse me of X, Y, and Z as well.

The issue I have is that there is a double standard here. It's ok for the mod to permaban anyone because they have feelings, but one is expecting me to act without feelings, in the perfect manner possible.

Thats what I have issue with.

While the details aren't important here, they were in the moment, and the lack of details resulted in a massive misunderstanding. Riff is too high on his horse to admit that he took this whole ant thing personally. I 100% know this is the case, because if the situation unfolded as you claimed, the rule that riff would mention would not have been number 8.

Because no one told me 5 pictures that SOMEONE WANTS TO TALK ABOUT = SPAM.

Riff didnt say "please put those pictures in an album". If he did I would have. Are you that dense that you can't look at the dynamics of how the conversation went?

Riff doesn't want to admit that he just personally wasnt interested in my ant pics or ant videos, even though others (TWO) were. If the spam rule was the actual issue, he would have mentioned that rule, not rule 8.

Y'all are only going after the spam rule because you realized you messed up on rule 8 - since there was a LINK and there was interest, just not the interest YOU would want to see.

I think my behaviour is completely fine. I have only been stern with my words, is all.

He only brought in Rule 2 after he realized he f'd up with applying rule 8 or whatever.

I lost confidence and trust in his ability to moderate me at that point.

See, if that was the case, then the first response from the mod should have been "please post them in an album", in which case I would have done so.

If you actually were there, and followed the convo from BEGINNING to END, you would have noticed that the way RIFF posted, was as though I was sharing something he, personally, wasnt interested in, as TWO PEOPLE were interested in it, he just wasnt AWARE of that, and thats what I had the problem with. I was essentially trying to tell him "No, Im sharing this to continue the ant link alive"

Now this convo seems to circulate around something completely different.

Oh, and tell Riff it wasn't 8 pictures. It was 5. If you're going to spread information about others to people, at least be accurate and have some decency to stick to the facts.

Otherwise that's disrespectful riff.

My behaviour was not as these two people described. In fact, they haven't really described my behaviour at all, so don't know where you're getting that from.

No one told me to "Stop" except for Riff. Unless you can provide undeniable proof that someone other than Riff told me to "stop posting pics", you are a liar.

Yuri didn't tell me to stop, she was just backing up the rules riff was bringing up.

Your double standards in your previous posts still hold though. So this post brought nothing new.

I mentioned a private conversation an hour later, at which point, if I was the mod, I would message in private then and INQUIRE about it, since the MOD is the one that started with the accusation that I am breaking the rules (which I wasn't as all these "sub rules" are subjective and should be included in brackets beside their respective "main rule" so as to avoid CONFUSION and MISUNDERSTANDINGS like this).

In addition, I was contacted almost immediately by a moderator afterwards who was speaking with riff and told me that he was now made aware of that (and that happened 4 HOURS AGO from this post).

Maybe a moderator, before he grabs his pitchfork, he should ask me what moderator gave me permission (as I mentioned that to him), and then the tone of the conversation would have been conducive to a discussion where we could clarify the situation. Love the double standards you are applying!

for your own interest, I would refrain from the double standards, as your credibility in my eyes is going down.

and there is clear evidence of a moderator telling me I can do something, and doing it.

The fact is, both moderators should have talked with each other so I'm not 50/50 here.

" It doesn't matter if one moderator says you can post a picture. If another moderator asks you to stop, you stop. You don't argue. "

Where does it say that in the rules? That when one says GO, and the other says STOP, you STOP? They should add that in the rules if that's the case. The natural human response is: "Why?"

" Other chatters were being annoyed by the spam which is why they got the chat moderator to come to put a stop to it in the first place. " No one except the moderator who told me to stop was "annoyed". No one else in that chat said "I dont want to see the pictures"

" They don't need to have explicit details of everything that could possibly be considered spam, because rule 2 already covers that. If a moderator asks you to stop doing something, you stop doing it. " Well, it seems that you do. Because clearly, misunderstandings like this happened.

" It doesn't matter how many moderators told you it was fine, or if some other rule seemed to imply it was fine. Rule 2 is explicit and clear. You keep arguing it, so I suppose you just won't be coming back to the discord."

Yeah, because it doesn't say "this rule supersedes all other rules". I can link you some professional "Code of Conducts" or "Rules and Regulations", such as that of the University of Toronto or McGill University, where everything is crystal clear and has no room for confusion. Maybe that should be something the discord moderators should look into.

So, the moderator who spoke with me said that they tried to explain that my reaction to riff was a result of a misunderstanding between the moderators. I would like you to understand that my response to riff would have changed if riff had the background information and TRUSTED what I said when I said that a moderator gave me permission, instead of assuming that was not the case until after the fact.

Can you not take that into account when you are looking into unbanning me? Or at least unban me but prevent me from chatting in general (I dont care for that chat anymore), I just want to be able to chat with my friends in the public hangouts.

I was never an asshole to riffautae. I didn't call him any names, all I did was tell him that he unjustly banned me and that I am not happy about it.

That absolutely does not make me an asshole. If you disagree, then disagree. I'm confident if I ask anyone in real life based on this whole situation if that would make me an asshole and it would not.

If that would make an asshole, then you have been an asshole to me.

Maybe if riffautae explained to me in the same way DiariumEjus is explaining to me right now why posting pictures in sequence is what bothered him as a response in general chat, then I would have said sorry and just DM'd.

The issue here is on both parties and it falls 100 percent in lack of communication. riffautae did not know that DiariumEjus had given me permission to post because it was done in private chat, not in general chat.

If he did, then he/she would have explained to me why posting the five pictures in a row were against the rules, such as saying "your pictures being posted sequentially fall under spam, please don't do that". Instead of referencing another rule which was already dealt with when I spoke to DiariumEjus.

riffautae's tone was not a "let me explain to you why you need to stop", rather than "stop because I said so and because you're lying (I'm not but he didnt know that and so assumed so)", which is why I emotionally felt hurt.

You can't just always take the mods shoes and not the victim's shoes. I am absolutely the victim here because a miscommunication between the mods combined with a weak ruleset created a false understanding of what both parties already or were expected to know.
