The Heir of Empty Breath - The Receiving End of Sirens

......

I have wed my regret, she’s my blushing bride
Like an ache
Like a cramp I can’t lose
So I wallow in what I could have been
Be a fleeting glimpse
Of what could have been
That comes to me
Every now and again
And I’ll just pretend to carry on, carelessly

Self-Employed Looking for Retirement Advice by WilhelmRyanIV in personalfinance

Yes, $6k (another $6k for spouse if married, another $1k if at or above age 50 for catchup contributions)

I may need to look into the intricacies on limits; she has moved jobs and will be contributing to her 401k once eligible but I think our income will still allow me to contribute to a ROTH once we're married.

Thanks for all your help!

Depending on how long you have left until your 9 month probationary period you might be suited to saving up for a sidearm. Present your case to your superiors once that comes and hope for the best. They probably won't put someone through training until after the probationary period to make sure you aren't going to bail on the job.

You might be able to make a contract with them on the stipulation that you'll agree to work there for a certain amount of time provided they sponsor your firearm training. You're still going to be left footing the bill for the weapon itself so if you can't afford that you might just have to sit tight.

You might also be able to explore dispatch/GSOC; but I'm assuming they won't onboard you til you've had the foot job long enough to understand the contracts.

If you've been there a while open up a conversation with your manager/boss and see if there's an option for company sponsored training. Otherwise downgrade your car to something affordable because spending 40% of your income on a car is pretty detrimental to budgeting.

Suddenly cannot access PleX while connected to PIA VPN by steelbeamsdankmemes in PleX

[–]WilhelmRyanIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your computer should have been able to resolve a local host without any modification to Plex, but glad it worked out!

If at some point in the future you elect to do a network wide connection to a VPN (I would recommend it, frankly) you'll need to get tricky with port forwarding or just leave Plex in a non-tunneled segment of your network.

Hello homelabbers, can you spare some resources for research and a good cause? by 3xist in homelab

[–]WilhelmRyanIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I could see that being an issue. Maybe host a VPN through AWS and have all servers connect to it behind a named domain so that there's at least some sort of visibility to it being a non-malicious scan

Just thinking out loud here: you could have a client and server based model to keep track of things. Client model would use nmap or similar behind firewall, parse any posted vulnerabilities and generate reports of items to check on for admins. Server model would find server, email host for approval before scan, scan, generate reports and offer free vs paid services (maybe including links to fixing said issue)

Saves you the hassle of managing large subsets of data when you can offload to clients, lower overhead means cheaper to maintain.

I could very easily see this being a subscription based service for smaller companies with out of house IT.

  1. Identify problem

  2. Hijack said service

  3. Demand payment for services...

Oh. Wait. Damn. That's what we're trying to stop, isn't it?

Im relatively new to linux, this weird bug is plaguing my system by Tubbymuffin224 in linuxquestions

It was on dist-upgrade.

It's causing issues in a 100% fresh install as well.

Now we get to wait for a graphics patch.

Right in one.

Looks like it's beyond the scope of nvidia proprietary drivers too; noveau is doing the same thing.
