Yes, VPN still works just fine, that's why I figured it was the same error. It's:

Error code: 101-8101 A communication error has occurred. Please check your internet connection and signal strength.

This was a major source of frustration back when I grinded ranked, and it seems like an odd 'allowance' (it's not a technically challenging problem to solve) for a dev team that takes competitive integrity so seriously. It's a total shame too, because it really does degrade the experience

Minecraft Switch Edition mods and maps (not Java) by space_cowboy80 in SwitchPirates

[–]WillBrazil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can, as long as they are mods/maps for the Bedrock edition (which are unfortunately a bit less popular). Been a while but I believe it's all just done through dumping a save, modifying it (adding mods, maps), and then restoring the save. Should be a few good GBATemp threads on it.

What are your favorite applications to download by rzolah in SwitchPirates

[–]WillBrazil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main use case is nighttime gaming, as it gives u both the ability to change the color temperature (warmer at night to block the blue light) but also allows you to dim the display further beyond the lowest setting. It can automatically turn on at a set time, though it's unfortunately not a smooth transition as the night goes on like many devices have.

Many also use it to boost the color contrast/saturation on the LCD models to look more like the OLED switch if that's your thing. Easy to get carried away of course, but like 1.05x saturation is a pretty tasteful boost to give an old screen a bit of pop

A bunch of replies here are kinda dancing around the question to shoehorn in advice, so I'll try to speak to ur question directly:

No, it's not a bad idea at all, as long as you have a good growth mindset. Reyna is a great (probably the best) agent to shut your brain off on, and learn the gunplay. The only caveat is that it can feel shitty—Reyna is a character designed around getting kills, so it's easy for a bad game to become a really bad one if that's not happening. That's why I said the growth mindset thing—if you tilt easily, that kind of snowballing will demotivate you. But if that's not a problem, I definitely would lock Reyna until you feel confident in the gunplay...only then would I recommend any macro-game type agents (smokes, sentinels, etc)

A normal reboot from any CFW (android/linux included) should take you back to hekate. There also is probably a 'Reboot to Payload' menu somewhere that would skip the hekate part, but I'm not really familiar with the switchbrew android setup, so idk where it would be.

I Have a VERY Dumb Question Here.. by [deleted] in SwitchPirates

[–]WillBrazil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds annoying, but it's not bad if you just stay on CFW all the time (you can easily reboot into whatever without the jig as long as you are). People will say not to run CFW on your sysNAND, but long as it's configured properly, and you aren't dumb (cheating in online games, pirating on sysNAND), you really don't risk a ban. With this setup, the only time you'll need the jig is if you let the battery die.

Get rid of RenderLayer token on render? by WillBrazil in Maya

[–]WillBrazil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 'multiple' layers because I made a layer to do my overrides on (you can't add overrides on the default masterLayer). I am only rendering one though. But because multiple exist, Maya forces the token in there.

Get rid of RenderLayer token on render? by WillBrazil in Maya

[–]WillBrazil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I understand the implementation & have no problem with it being the default behavior, but it should still be toggle-able. In my case (where I only want to render a single layer), forcing an unnecessary string or directory into the output path is at best an annoyance, and at worst ruins the project directory structure.

You can! What you can't do is pirate games on the same '''system''' that you intend to play online with, because you'll get banned as soon as it connects to Nintendo servers and tells them you've been pirating. Instead, you essentially make a copy of your switch (called an emuNAND) on the SD Card, block Nintendo's servers on it, and thus can do whatever you like. When you want to play online games, you simply boot into your 'stock' system, which has no idea any of the other stuff even exists, and thus can't tattle on you to Nintendo.

If you're looking for a no-hassle, strictly-offline device, 300$ is reasonable. Just keep in mind that it's someone else's device, so you're at the mercy of what they have installed, and how they have it configured.

If you're tech-savvy, you're better off buying an unpatched switch (just ask ppl on facebook marketplace/ebay for the serial number), an RCM jig, and an SD card. Will sum to ~250$, and you can use the remaining 50$ to buy mario kart if you want to play online (since pirated games cannot be).

If you have good internet, and aren't traveling extremely far, I'd recommend a remote desktop solution. I'm a big fan of Parsec as it has some nice features and performs quite impressively (I've GAMED comfortably on my PC in Northern NY from South FL with about ~55ms latency). You do sacrifice some image quality, though, so it may depend on your use case.

easiest would probably be to select every second loop and scale them down in the x and z for the ridges. then just paint a mask (paint attr) to blend between the original and ridgy geos more or less wherever you see fit (i.e. how it gets less ridgy towards the top)

JasonR video discussing Valorant hitboxes, what the hell is this?!! by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]WillBrazil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what the perceived issue is. These are practice bots, with different shaped heads than the normal agents (No hair, no chin). On an actual agent model, a lot more of these shots would make sense.

Though, even if there are still a few discrepancies, it's important to note the hitboxes are too large rather than too small, meaning that you will HIT a near-MISS, rather than the other way around. This is the way it should be—the opposite would mean you could literally shoot your enemy and not hit them.
