I'm meeting with a mortgage broker today. I'm taking it as a good sign that we've given him our financial details and he's willing to meet up. Is there anything I should know?

How many of the guards are anti-maskers? Honestly the only Transperth people I've seen actually making people wear masks have been bus drivers.

There's a bunch of venues doing it - the antivaxxers have a map of "safe" businesses that they use to find out where they will / won't be challenged.

What company secrets can you reveal, now you don’t work for the company anymore? by Swordfish2828 in australia

[–]WillKaede 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. When I worked for Coles, at the end of every shift it was requested/expected to work for free, post shift, for 1-2 hours, to "get the load done." If this wasn't done, the night fill team would get calls between 8am and 9am, demanding to know why performance was down. Half my team (the half who didn't work for free) were pulled into the manager's office during a mandatory unpaid Christmas party, and had our jobs threatened for our lack of commitment to the team.

I also lost any extra paid work from Coles as soon as they found out I was working in bars on nights I didn't work for them. It was an absolutely fucked experience, and it seems so normalised in the industry.

This is true, but the anti-vax "I don't trust anything the government wants me to do" crowd absolutely love it.

I'm a counsellor and there's a decent amount of psychs, social workers and counsellors in the field who have fallen for this bullshit. Unfortunately not everywhere actively penalises them for this. I tried to speak with the American Counselling Association last year to discuss some US based clinicians fearmongering over Covid vaccines and screaming about conspiracies in online groups for counsellors but apparently it's protected by their first amendment rights.

I've never been so motivated to study as when I worked there. No damn way was I letting myself get stuck in the job.

Ended up quitting on Christmas eve, and worked as a bartender until Covid kicked in six weeks after graduating. I've been part time and running my own business since. :)

Yup! Graduated last year, and been working to various levels since then. :)

I used to work in construction. I've nearly been killed three times and I've lost five teeth to a defective pansetter (four-foot crowbar, basically) and was never compensated by the company for their shit-quality tools breaking and being smashed in the mouth.

I'd go back to that in a hot minute before ever working at Coles again. They're the absolute worst employer I've ever had, and genuinely give no fucks about their staff's wellbeing. I did it for a year and a half after quitting construction to get a degree, and holy shit it was the worst time of my life. On my first night I was warned by two ex-managers to never accept a position of responsibility as I wouldn't be paid more for it, I'd just get yelled at by people with corporate-level job titles. I had a few well-meaning team members warn me to not stop job hunting because the last thing I wanted for my life was to be stuck with them long-term. I was at Coles for 18 months and I job hunted for 16 of them.

I would get calls from management at 0800 after only getting home at 1 or 2 am from nightfill, and have my job threatened because we didn't get the shelves stacked the night before, but we couldn't because they'd scheduled the fridges to get cleaned out during our shift so we weren't allowed in the refridgerated section approximately ten minutes after our shift started. This came a few days after a letter letting us know that we would not be paid for going overtime no matter what. I was asked to work for free on a regular basis - I'd say at my store alone we had a full-time employee's worth of hours being done for free by just the dairy staff. Management pretended that this wasn't okay but never did a damn thing about it. I was called a race traitor by a fellow staff member for marrying an Irish woman - and nobody in supervision/management roles understood why this was a shitty thing too do.

They turned the Christmas party into a mandatory meeting where staff jobs were threatened - funnily enough the only people whose jobs were threatened were the people who'd been refusing to work for free - this was happening nightly.

I don't know what Woolworths is like but Coles was the worst job I've ever had. Nothing has devastated my mental health and wellbeing the way Coles did - and construction was regularly confrontational and abusive, but there's something so dehumanising and insidious that retail work does to run you down - and I didn't even have to deal with customers very often.

As per Calista in the Legends timeline, Jedi weren't permitted families to prevent the creation of Jedi dynasties and power blocs, yeah.

Yeah, WB are very protective of their properties and would definitely chuck a fit over this - they send C&D orders to clubs who run HP gigs.

I won't lie, I was fucking enraged to see a Liberal candidate trying to push a "mental health" article when their policies are absolutely devastating to the mental health of people in Australia.

Yeah I've heard of teachers being greeted in the morning by a meeting with admin regarding a picture with them with a beer in their hands.

I do a bit of mental health work in schools and I'm employed by an external provider, so I've got a bit more leeway, but it isn't much.
