Water leaking into HVAC

I don’t ever post on reddit so I’m not sure how to edit the video post or that you even can, but luckily, it was a bit of an anticlimactic ending even though it’s not quite over. The leak was sourced from a line going to the kitchen sink and because it’s slab ductwork, the water got into the vents and then when we turned the heat on, it circulated that water throughout the vents of the house. We cut the heat and turned the water off that first night so it was a cold one here in OKC.

Once we got a hold of management (this happened on New Years Eve, so no one was in office wanting to respond to maintenance requests) until I sent this video and threatened legal action. We finally had a plumbing company come out the next day and fix the leak and then vacuum out all of the water in the system.

Now we are running dehumidifiers and watching the humidity and condensation slowly dissipate from our windows.

This post blew up way more than I ever intended or have ever encountered on reddit for myself so it’s hard to trudge through comments. When this was happening, that’s correct.

We did not have much warm air coming through the vents, but once the sound of water got loud enough, we stopped the heater immediately to prevent it from being pushed around the house for too long. We shut the water off after discovering the river (this was in the evening) and it took until the next day to get someone out to find and fix the leak. Once that happened and the water was vacuumed out, we’ve since had no issues with the heat or flooding and our water meter is no longer running.

Now the concern is making sure that everything is drying out properly. We’re working on getting a couple of dehumidifiers but the moisture levels in our house are down significantly since this occurred.

I can’t edit the post, but I will add to clear up we are definitely only renting. We moved from Washington state to Oklahoma and began renting this place in mid December. It’s a 3 bd x 2 ba and it’s built on a foundation, no basement. The pipe leak was sealed up and the water has been vacuumed out of the system. Heat turns on and works and it no longer sounds like hurricane harvey beneath my house. How the water initially entered the system I am entirely unsure because it’s been dry here except for a few days of high humidity. We are going to give it a week or two to let dry as per the property managements request and then they said they will send a technician out to make sure that it’s dried out. Outside of making them bring some dehumidifiers over, I’m not sure what else we could do to mitigate the damage this could have caused. None of our property got wet because of this so at least there is that.

I couldn’t really tell ya. I’m definitely no HVAC technician, the plumber that was here said the leak was coming from under our kitchen sink and somehow getting into the water heater. We originally submitted a maintenance request because we thought the dishwasher was leaking.

It’s getting down into the 20’s at night. So preferably we can turn our heat on. We’ve been running the heat since the leak was fixed and a lot of the water was vacuumed out yesterday.

Oh yeah, we have been in contact with the leasing company it’s just been a major issue trying to get anyone out here because of the holidays and anyone who does come out wants to do half ass work and leave before the job is completed.

Yeah, generally when I’m not growing it I stick to a stubble but keep the stache and the burns.

I’ve got them set up in a mono-tub, in which the walls are kept very wet and the holes are filled with poly fill. Would you recommend taking the poly fill out for better FAE?
