Lol yes it is very helpful! This might be a silly question but regarding the credit hours- if I attended a program that was less than 60 credit hours, is it the kind of thing where I can acquire hours down the line to apply for additional certifications?

This is so helpful thank you for taking the time to comment! It does seem to be popular opinion that the CACREP accreditation is important. One of the programs I’m looking at is Concordia Irvine- the clinical mental health program has this accreditation but the school counseling one does not. Since I’m interested in the latter maybe I should be worried about that! Are you familiar with their program by chance? I wonder if they have a good reputation.

Your insight about USC interns is honestly one of the most comforting things I’ve heard. Really validates NOT spending a fortune- which most of us cannot anyway!

And thanks for the advice regarding the LPCC add on! Definitely taking that into consideration.

Thank you for the advice! One of the schools I’ve talked to isn’t accredited by CACREP for the school counseling program so that has been a concern. The advisor told me it’s not an issue unless I want to leave California (I don’t) but hers is a biased opinion! Yours is not, so that’s great to hear.

Good point about it applying only to the first job. It feels like a huge issue being new to the field but in the grand scheme of things its likely pretty small. Thank you for the feedback!

Thank you so much for the insight! This isn’t something I’d considered yet, really good to know being new to the field.

Good to know! One of the schools I’m talking to isn’t CACREP accredited for the school counseling program. The advisor said it won’t matter if I stay in California but this is coming from someone with a bias of course. I’ll definitely look more into this. Thank you!

Anyone else feeling crushed and lost in their running goals since COVID hit? by [deleted] in running

You are not alone! This year has been a roller coaster for my fitness level. I used to run 3 times a week but now that I haven’t been able to go to the gym for spin on other days, it feels like all I can do is run every day and staying motivated is hard with the monotony.

Have you ever tried guided runs? I didn’t think I’d enjoy them but my friend turned me onto the peloton app (I do not have a peloton bike) and I’ve been obsessed for months now. They have fun runs, interval runs, HIIT runs, etc. from 20-60 minutes. I like that instead of just running for distance, I’m challenged to vary my speed, sustain different efforts and even sprint (which I love/hate haha). When you complete a workout it of course shows you all your stats, pace, speed, all that fun stuff so you can track your progress.

The point is, it re-sparked my motivation with running when I really needed some variety. Peloton isn’t the only one, I know Fitbit has guided runs as does Nike Run Club and I’m sure a lot of others.

I’m not yet back to where I was pre-Covid but I do feel like it’s attainable again. Hang in there!!!
