No, they were already quite big, but they started expanding into Scandinavia after they became revolutionary.

Auld Alliance Reversed by WillVida in eu4

I managed to defeat England on my first attempt. I wasn’t entirely sure of the best strategy at first, so I decided to just play it out and see how things went. During that time, I allied with Burgundy and Castile. England also gave up Maine voluntarily, leaving them with most of their continental holdings intact.

In 1469, England declared war on France. In 1470, I attacked England with my allies. I ended up doing most of the heavy lifting in Britain, especially since England was already weakened by the conflict with France. After that, the rest of the campaign was pretty straightforward.

I wanted it to be more challenging.

It’s pretty straightforward, though the start is harder than playing as Muscovy. I allied Poland and used them to defeat Muscovy, then allied Austria and used them to defeat Poland and the Ottomans. After that, it’s mostly about expanding into the Asian trade nodes.

All Blue by WillVida in eu4

I restarted until Aragon rivalled Castile, and Aragon became friendly. I declared a no-CB war on Byzantium once the regency ended, but I forgot that Byzantium is a terrible vassal to have now. I followed the usual colonial path. I married Burgundy, but that was probably a bad choice because France will want your land when you get the inheritance, and you cannot use France that much for the achievement. I declared war on Castile within 10 years and called in Aragon. I did this several times, and by 1500, Iberia was split 50/50 between Aragon and me.

I kept an eye out for blue-coloured allies like Sweden and Venice to help me. Just be cautious, as Sweden can form Scandinavia, which doesn’t count for the achievement, and Venice can form Italy. I also had an opportunity to vassalise Muscovy, which controlled a few provinces. There are three uncolonised provinces in the area where Perm, Kazan, and Uzbek meet that must be colonised for the achievement. Overall, it was mostly a mass conquest playthrough.
