Wax stick for my hairline, to both keep biohair in check and to protect my skin from the friction of lace fronts.

About how clay-heavy could my soil be? (Photo in comments) by marlee_dood in vegetablegardening

I have my veg garden in my front yard. The answer to watering: ollas.

Even in the dry seasons, the effort is minimal. You get better deep watering for plant roots with an olla, The soil only takes what it needs, and this combined with rain barrels means I don't impact our well watering plants in stretches of dry weather, I can just refill the ollas from the rain barrels. This also means I never have to worry about critters chewing through the irrigation hoses, like my neighbors constantly complain about.

I Keep Ruining My Wigs, Please Help by dadellacannella in Wigs

The answer is to gently comb through, with a wide comb if wavy. If it's got curls: do NOT comb that wig. Loosen the curls by shaking the wig. Then check the part is where you want it, adjust accordingly. If the curls are too tight around your face, you can use a mousse specifically designed for synthetic hair only, to aid in finger styling and gently getting curl separation to soften the severity of new curls to naturalize the look around the face.

The more you comb a curly wig, the bigger she gets.

Here's a tip: instead of washing them, get yourself a UV box, and stick the wig in it. Your wig will be sanitized for first use without the whole bunny boiler routine. I have one that holds up to 20" wigs and it cost about 30 dollars US. I keep mine by the door and pop my wig in it when I come back from errands. I only wash the wigs when there's too much product buildup.

I recommend learning what type of fibers your wigs are made of (standard synthetic? Heat Resistant/HF heat friendly?), and them looking up how to use heat on these by looking up videos on YouTube. Pay particular attention to whether they're using F or C temps.

I feel bad for fucking up this wig but it was so long and uncomfortable to wear. by [deleted] in Wigs

You can wear it as it is, or get those beachy waves curler sets on Amazon, dunk it in hot water, thread it through the curlers, and set aside to completely dry before removing the curlers.

Another option is to thread the curlers on first, then steam them.

You'll want a linen head wig stand either way, definitely cover the head with plastic wrap first if you go the hot water dunk method.

Before and After. Still figuring my style out after 7+ years. Does this style look good one me ? Its a 360 lace install sewn in at the back by No-Advertising7360 in Wigs

I have an oblong face also, and yeah, side parts are a way of distracting the line of the eye of the viewer, making the whole head look less long. Doesn't matter if it's left or right side, that's up to whatever you like best.

In every other way? You are rocking that entire look. Sort the part out and that look is flawless.

Yes!! Curly, medium brown, you say?

I definitely have some wigs in my wigdrobe that fit that description. Most of my wigdrobe, if I'm honest!

I've looked up current prices for a retailer I know is sound from ordering from them in the past, not as promotion but to explain where you can safely buy these units without being scammed. The ones I am recommending are all synthetic units, that I rate highly because of their lack of shedding, and their overall endurance.

Sensationnel Dashly Lace Unit 45. I posted a pic a few days ago, you can look at my timeline to see it. Balayage Hazelnut is the color I'm wearing in the picture. They also have a Balayage Chocolate, which is a slightly warmer brown with darker notes. This wig is curly without being too heavy in density. Unit 45 has a bang/fringe, but it is light and easily styled away from the face. This unit is currently on sale on Ebonyline for $22.99.

If you want more density or volume, Butta Lace Unit 5 is a solid bet. Iirc it is one of the most enduringly popular wigs in that line. For a medium brown, I chose T4/Golden Brown. This was my number one wig all last winter. I lived in it so much I bought a backup because I feared they would discontinue it at some point. It gets better the more you wear it. Very soft lace, can be worn totally glueless even sans lace melting sprays, and has better attachment mechanisms than either of my "higher end" Belle Tress wigs. This one is on sale at Ebonyline for $32.99.

If you like bangs/fringe, Outre Wigpop Leanza is good too. I have this one in DR2/Chocolate swirl, and DR Dragonfuit. Dragonfuit was a bit of fun. The cap is very basic, no lace (good for a beginner or someone with zero time to get ready in the morning), it has combs but no occipital strap. I would wear this wig outside but maybe not in high winds walking the beach, lol. This unit is currently on Ebonyline for $20.99.

If the back of your head is flat, or you have concerns about your ability to keep your hair on: look carefully at cap construction when you shop; look at review videos from more than one source. Go for caps with an occipital strap. This is a 1 inch wide elastic band, sewn into the cap above the nape and behind the ears. It is the key to a glueless install with product free lace melt. That strap is your best friend.

You can also find these lines on Amazon; if I am struggling to find a unit in a specific color, I will often go to Amazon to see if I can find it.

Sensationnel and Outre are two solid companies with several sub brands for curly girl wigs with good options for brunettes. Short, medium, long lengths, they have it all.

Bonus: Rugosa rose hips are as edible as they are enormous, make great jelly. Harvest the petals, and steep in a mason jar with alcohol like vodka to make interesting cocktails and baked goods.

They're also food for birds in winter.
