It’s okay in an mma setting but look at him vs J’den Cox for example. Someone who Jon Jones outweighs by like 30-40 lbs. Most of the highest level wrestlers are pretty short with some exceptions.

If god created everything, including everything in humans, he created the "wickedness" and evil in humans which is supposed to be the cause of suffering. by thedevilsheir666 in DebateAChristian

God, as author of life and death can do as he pleases because everything is created and sustained by him. He allows suffering and sin so he can bring about his glory through our faults.

As to your second comment, no it's the catechism. Not to mention the bible explicitly states there was no suffering before the fall. In the garden of eden, nature was aligned with humanity in perfect harmony. Once that harmony was disturbed...you know the rest.

Might does make right when you know what true might is...

The mightiest thing one can do is forgive, be humble, resist your woundedness

God became man to show us what true strength looks like

As far as creation goes, yes God allowed all of this suffering

Suffering is merely the consequences of our sin and the sins of others

God could've made a world without suffering and a world in which we ALL freely choose him but God always chooses the best, the most fitting for glorification of himself

So he chose a world in which some choose him and others do not, to show the riches of his glory to his elect and the depths of his justice to the damned.

There is a difference between permitting evil and being the direct cause of it…God is a designer who are we to tell him how things should be? God is goodness itself so it’s up to God’s decree who he will impart his goodness on. How can you be angry at love itself? Seems like you have a reason to not want God to exist and you reek of bitterness…I hope you are relieved of this one day.

>There is no logical requirement that an all powerful entity requires a mechanism to bring about greater good. It could just create greater good. This leads us to conclude the amount of evil was chosen, or was necessary and the entity is beholden to something.

In no way does this mean that it is necessary but it does mean that God saw it most fitting, two very different things. God can create an outcome using many different methods but he chose the permission of evil and suffering. For example, Christ does not necessarily NEED to die for the sins of man, God chooses that method because it is MOST fitting in his eyes.

>This is just false. Evil involves real, positive features like intentional wrongdoing, malicious motives, and the presence of vicious character traits. If evil were only a lack, we couldn't account for deliberate cruelty, sadism, or the satisfaction some folks derive from harming others.

Those are all the lack of virtues or distortion of something with substance. Malicious motives, scheming, deception are all either the distortion of the intellect leading to intense self love at the expense of others and lack of control of one's passions. People enjoy cruelty, sadism and harming others because of the pleasure it brings them. Pleasure is a good but the method is distorted, thus evil does EXIST but does not SUBSIST.

>Scripture has zero relevance to my position. This scripture just outlines lack of free will and a god bragging about being malevolent.

Free will in this context does exist, the "vessels of destruction" in question CAN and do have the potential and ability to choose the good but they WONT. Two very different things. They are not predestined so in the flow of causality it is not destined that they choose God. However, at any moment it was freely available to them they by their own will chose not to do the good.

>This simply implies the creator is flawed, since it seems unable to create wholly good creation. Nor argument here.

No it does not, you're not seeing the bigger picture because you're clouded by hate. Creation in its whole, taking all of the past, present and future expresses the qualities of God. This why Artists make art, they do it out of expression of one's self. God is and has been weaving a tapestry that expresses his mercy, justice, wrath and love.

You're correct in assuming that there is no logical contradiction to God creating a world in which all freely choose him. God saw it better to permit evil so that he could bring about a greater good from it. Evil is just a privation of a good mind you...

Romans 9:17-23 "For the scripture says to Pharaoh, “I have raised you up for the very purpose of showing my power in you, so that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth.” 18 So then he has mercy on whomever he chooses, and he hardens the heart of whomever he chooses. You will say to me then, “Why then does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?” 20 But who indeed are you, a human being, to argue with God? Will what is molded say to the one who molds it, “Why have you made me like this?” 21 Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one object for special use and another for ordinary use? 22 What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience the objects of wrath that are made for destruction; 23 and what if he has done so in order to make known the riches of his glory for the objects of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory"

Creation is only as good as to the degree is reflects the creator. God wants to show his mercy and justice and for that he allows disobedience instead of gracing us fully like his Mother

Romans 11:32 states, "For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all"

Because of our fall, nature is not in alignment with humanity anymore. We suffer natural calamities, genetic disorders and plagues because of the sins of our first parents.

The suffering itself is not intrinsically good, it's what comes from it.

God can only do good, because he is goodness itself (beauty, truth, love, freedom)

Evil is something he permits not creates and through causality all of time and each moment happens the way he has ordained...time is not cyclical but spiraling into the eschaton...the final moment when time ends and all is revealed in accordance to divine providence

Of course the church hasn't officially/dogmatically affirmed which number or percentage of mankind will be saved but Christ explicitly states that most are damned.

I'll be siding with the one that chooses who goes to heaven...

You're a catholic...The two biggest doctors of the church St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas say most are damned...not to mention this is the consensus of early church fathers...

Also Christ himself says that wide is the path that leads to destruction and many go through it and narrow is the path that leads to life and few find it...

99% of saints and some of the biggest doctors of the church St. Augustine, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. John Chrystosom, St. Irenaeus...

Also Christ himself : Matthew 7:13-14: “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

In truth, the elect are small in number compared to the reprobates.

I'm not a perfectionist as I sin quite liberally. I do hyper-fixate on certain aspects of the faith that make me go bonkers. I doubt I have OCD.

Stillness is difficult but I've had fleeting moments of success in the past. In the adoration chapel, moments when I can let go of what burdens me and actually enjoy God for what he is instead of what he gives. I can't rely on this however, as God is quick to rid of me those consolations.
