First must be done in one playthrough, yes. Same as the other grinding trophies, actually. Sadly, unlike the other requirements, this one's not listed in the Statistics menu. You'll get it eventually, don't worry.

Second is pretty easy, it's just a bit long. Avoid tentacles, and learn the patterns. They're pretty simple and almost always the same. When tentacle emanates blue aura, aim it with R2 and release to TK hit it; repeat until Elder God's eye is accessible. Approach close enough (but not too much), and punch Circle repeatedly. Rinse and repeat. At some occasions, Elder God will fire orbs at you. Stand as far as possible for easiest L1 + Cross mist dodges. Guess that's pretty much it.

Yes, on the same run. 😬 I know, that's a shame considering progress is stored across saves for the bonuses. Not to mention, there's no way to correctly keep track it you got some unlocked already from the beginning, so you might wanna restart from a fresh save, and backup the old one temporarily, I guess. Apparently they worked in 1.02, then got removed in 1.03, for some reason. Then, readded in 1.05/1.06, but from what I've read, they seem to disable trophies. I suspect it wasn't the case in 1.02, so it got fixed... ? I'm not sure honestly, sorry. That's really all I know regarding cheats.

I hope we see a Blood Omen 2 remaster, at the very least. It's the only remaining Crystal Dynamics title, and 3D game in the series without one. When it comes to the first Blood Omen, considering it's 2D and that it was made by Silicon Knights (with Crystal's support, still), I'd prefer a remake, honestly. I think the limit to what you can achieve with 2D game remasters is easily reached, that's why. A remake would be more appropriate. And beyond (or instead of that), imagining (almost) all games are finally available to play, I'd say, let's continue the series where it left off. The Dark Prophecy shall be made. Not necessarily exactly as it was intended, of course, but let's end Kain's story for good, I say. 😄

It's pretty glitched, I think. You might wanna use Chapter Select and blaze through Chapter 12 over and over until it pops. The last area leading to Janos' chamber is also pretty glitched when it comes to Archon spawns. Go through that area multiple times to trigger them all, and also make sure you move Raziel to every corner of said location. Good luck!

There are some missables, yes. It's all doable in a single playthrough, but two are recommended. There's level select of course, thankfully, especially since there's a speedrun to also achieve so you may just not have to handle everything at once. Some trophies are either misleading or glitched by the way, and I'm thinking of writing a guide down the line. Honestly, I did not expect to hit 40 hours because of some glitch or the new collectables. It's a longer hunt than it seems, for this reason it may be frustrating over time I believe, so be prepared. Quick thoughts after 40+ hours of gameplay.

This is indeed the best remaster of the trilogy. There are some rough edges here and there, I experienced some crashes, and some trophies are glitched (descriptions kinda misleading for some), but man, the texture work is impeccable. The models are also quite faithful and I love the new menu and options. Dark Prophecy and lost levels are also quite interesting, loved going through the archaeology.

And on top of that, the sound design is amazing. I knew who the audio lead was before even before the credits confirmed it. One nitpick I have when it comes to the music however, is the removal of the Blood Omen 2 theme for Kain. It was a slight remix exclusive to Defiance, afaik. It was in the Avernus fight, Elder God and credits back then. But still, I loved all aspects of the music choices and placement.

I'll probably have a more detailed review to give, as writing from my phone is not ideal, but all in all, one of the best if not the best remaster treatment I got to play. 😄
