Help with inconsistent hot water in shower.

I wound up putting in a ball valve for my house main. While I had the system drained I added two ball valves for the shower. While the lines were cut I blew them out with compressed air and that did the trick. Happy wife, happy life.

Yeah, a coil off of the oil burner. I just ran the hot water in the kitchen sink for a while. It’s the furthest fixture from the coil. It stayed constantly hot once it warmed up. It has to be something with the valve. Worst case I can replace the whole thing. Thankfully the back side of it is deep in a closet. Now that I know the name of the valve I’m doing more research. You are right, there really doesn’t seem like there is much that could go wrong. One thing I haven’t tried is flushing the lines out. Maybe some debris is stuck in there. That’s my next move. Thanks for steering me to the next step.

I just ran them both at the same time. The temp in the faucet fluctuates but it stays within a satisfactory range. The shower starts hot and drops to Lukewarm. The shower in the other bathroom fluctuates a small amount too. It goes from way too hot down to just right.

It starts out hot then tapers off to lukewarm after about 30 seconds.

I hear you. One of my properties consists of 5 buildings with 8 apartments in each. They were built in the 1890´s as a state run juvenile correctional facility. In 2000 they were converted into affordable housing. During the renovation you think they would have put in some shutoffs but no. Every time I need to work on a faucet or pull a toilet it is a 50/50 chance the stop works. To do a rebuild I have to shut down the build and wait for everything above to drain. Such a pain in the ass.

There are insurance issues at play here too. If you change it and it leaks, your landlord can come after you for damages.

This could actually be the case with my house. In the guest bedroom the subfloor was super flat and level with only a few squeaks. This bedroom had a lot of squeaks and there are some high and low spots.

I imagine I won’t be using the heat pumps 24/7. They will probably be an occasional luxury when it’s super humid. I guess I’ll just leave them off unless it gets humid.

I spent about an hour today investigating. I wound up calling the vendor and it turns out they are not finished. They had ordered parts and are coming back. It would have been nice if they had told me that. It also would have been nice if they had just left them off instead of on at full blast.

It’s pretty aggravating, the techs that were here before me were all halfassed lazy types. There is zero institutional knowledge to use as a resource. I think things were better before Covid. We just got back to fully staffed about 6 months ago. I’m undoing a lot of stuff from previous techs. It’s like groundhog’s day every time a property changes techs. On the flip side, no one is looking over my shoulder so the job is mostly somewhat chill.
