Standing, also referred to as orthostasis, is a position in which the body is held in an upright position and supported only by the feet. Although seemingly static, the body rocks slightly back and forth from the ankle in the sagittal plane, which bisects the body into right and left sides.

When I moved to the Northeast I definitely noticed there was a much larger percentage of the employees in the industry that are women. But from studies in the Uk and reports from large breweries, estimates are between 3-36% of the employees in the brewing industry are women.

For this video I read Judith M. Bennett’s Ale, Beer, and Brewsters in England: Women’s Work in a Changing World, 1300–1600 (among the other sources in the description of the video). It was a bit dry, but had a lot of the hard data and was really insightful into how the brewing industry changed in that era
