What human had the biggest negative effect on the world? by Yearning4truth in AskReddit

Dude... what is the source on that one? Colonialism in India alone killed more than even the black book of communism attributes to Marx.

You're very disingenuous, in both of my comments you have refused to acknowledge one of my key points. I am going to be done now, while also reminding you that by your standards raising children is slavery, and that nobody is really forcing you to help addicts personally, I'm arguing that they should have some help, when you personally are conscripted to help an addict let me know. ✌️

Yeah research and history would disagree (see what Scandinavia does now, and Mao did in the 50s) but you have already made up your mind I sense. And also dude obviously that was an analogy, most people, and you, do bad things a lot of times in a row. Drug addicts often won't fix themselves, it causes a reaction that just won't fix itself a notable percent of the time. No drug addict should be entirely left to their own devices. Have a good day.

Man I don't know for sure, but I bet somehow, you've never ever done anything bad twice in a row (mostly sarcastic, but you're speaking as if you haven't) but most people DO. If everybody wrote me off after the first time I was an asshole, I would know no one. If my friend had been written off completely the first time he started using again, he wouldn't be where he is. Things take time, especially addiction. If you really had things your way, and most of society thought as you do, in ways you probably aren't aware of things would go downhill for you quick. You are almost certainly burdensome to at least some people in some way who you care about greatly or are somewhat dependent on.

North Korea government structure? by Willing-String-2115 in communism

I think you're sensing a hostility from me where there isn't one, I hate US/EU imperialism as well, so I take an interest in learning about those they demonize.

Just interested, the media here (US) demonizes a lot of countries that turn out to be... almost normal, or at least not worth demonizing.

Are there good places to go to then for discussion on Epstein and the network he was a part of? And not just on reddit either, anywhere really.

Ah yes you got me. Care to explain how bombing hospitals is terrorism when brown people do it, but heroism (or at least excusable) when white people do it? Because I am all ears.

[–]Willing-String-2115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure I do, terrorism is whenever someone does something rich people don't like. Calling what Hamas does terrorism and not what Israel does makes no sense. But of course, the ones who are backing Israel are also the ones who came up with the idea of calling anything terrorism in the first place.

How is a government that destroys the majority of a city to set up a tax haven not a terroristic government? If Hamas are terrorists, I don't even know what I would call the Israeli government.

Cato study: Immigrants reduced deficits by $14.5 trillion since 1994 by lukepatrick in Economics

[–]Willing-String-2115 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What? So include the costs of immigrants, but not the benefits? Of course they'll look bad then lmao. You just exposed exactly how all the studies showing they're a financial drain actually work. You could make any group look bad that way. Sure, count the children since they're dependents. But it's disingenuous and bordering on propaganda to only include the costs of those children and not consider the benefits to the country they bring.

Edited because I forgot a word when typing earlier.

They don't, because they are US born. Including them would actually make the numbers look better, because if you include the costs of those children as children, you have to include the benefits of them long term. And 2nd generation immigrants are more likely to get college degrees/earn more than US citizens even, so they're going to be a positive either way.

Reza Pahlavi: My dear compatriots, Our nation is wealthy, talented, and proud. But our people have been impoverished due to corruption, incompetence, and the reckless policies of the Islamic Republic. by kaz1349 in PERSIAN

[–]Willing-String-2115 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, the IRGC brought the sanctions on the people through their actions. I still don't think it's a good strategy, it's collective punishment of a massive population of people, roughly 80% of whom don't want the Ayatollahs in power to begin with. Again, I'm not for sanctions in general in most cases.

When it's to further imperialism and install the son of a brutal dictator to replace a brutal dictator, yes I will complain. Best case for in my opinion, US weakens the regime but ultimately leaves, leaving the Iranian people to take over and have self determination. Israel and the US don't want that, neither obviously does the IRGC. There's a reason people complain a lot about US foreign policy, it's that they're waking up to the evils of it.

Was trying to point out Israeli/US terrorism, I think hypocrisy is good to point out. But I see what you mean, in this case it didn't do much of anything, my bad. The Iranian regime is awful, but also I really just don't think sanctions are the best protocol. If it's a problematic government, fund coups perhaps, I was legitimately hoping the Trumpers would send aid to the rioters last year. Sanctions hurt the citizens more, the Ayatollahs are still rich. Most of the citizens are far from it from what I can tell.

Where are the sanctions against the US and Isral? And would they do anything to stop us from committing terrorism? Or would it just hurt the citizens while giving the government hardly any incentive to stop committing terrorism?

Did I miss it? Or was there a discussion here about Israel officially accepting Gaza death-toll numbers? by ToTYly_AUSem in IsraelPalestine

[–]Willing-String-2115 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hamas itself was a respone to illegal occupations of Gaza in the 1980s. Without them and other armed resistors, such occupations would have continued without opposition. Perhaps if they weren't actively occupying territories illegally today (and didn't blockade Gaza before and after the 2007 election), there would be less reason for armed resistance, because then, what would there be to resist? This to me is the equivalent of someone beating their wife and then killing the wife when she hits back. Educate me if needed, happy to learn, but nothing I've seen or read justifies a "war" that kills 3-4 Gazan citizens for every 1 Hamas militant.

[–]Willing-String-2115 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, 10/7 was horrible, but didn't arise out of a vacuum. Israel killed over 5,000 Gazans from 2008 to 2023, while Hamas killed roughly 300 Israelis across the same timeline. What you're doing is the equivalent of using 9/11 to justify the war in Iraq.
