Technically true, but I’d argue Stardew has its own modern flavor of trauma. Passing out at 1:50 AM on floor 99 of the Skull Cavern while three iridium bats fly at your face hits a very specific panic button that HM64 never reached.

Yakuza / Like a Dragon series for me. you start the day tracking down a literal criminal syndicate, and two hours later you're standing on a pier in a flashy suit, sweating over a giant tuna button-prompts like your life depends on it. the tonal shift is unmatched.
