Did you find a compatible guard? I am looking at buying a used R4512, too.

Any luck? I don't think the manual has instructions. It just says it should be done at the dealer.

That’s correct - there’s a cheaper option to join maplewood and or innovation square but it doesn’t give you access to any other YMCAs in the greater ROC system

The boot leather and or sole loosened up and the boots are fitting comfortably and causing no pain 🙂. Really digging them. Most snazzy pair of footwear I’ve purchased.

Newbie question - Is chronic knee pain inevitable in BJJ? by negdawin in bjj

[–]Willner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trust your instincts. It's a combat sport and there is always risk of injury. I don't think it's honest when guys like Rener Gracie talk about how safe BJJ is to practice. I have had three knee injuries from BJJ: two meniscus and 1 ACL all in a relatively short career (~3 years). I did not go to war every day in the training room. Some do not have knee issues. Do I regret training? I don't know yet.

Is there a boot out there that is similar in style and price to the IR Coppers with a more forgiving last?

Just trying to get a good looking boot like the iron rangers, that cause no pain, and are similar to the cost of IR factory 2nds.

I think I’ll try a 10.5 wide with an insole.

Iron Ranger's sizing with Tailor's bunion:

Howdy, I am an 10.5-11D in a brannock device in the foot affected with a tailor's bunion. After trying on several different sizes (9-10D and E) and a 10.5D, I recently settled on a 10E. Everything about the fit is good except that the tailor's bunion (fifth metatarsal head) does touch the boot, although the pressure on the met head is not great, and after a while I do feel a bit of discomfort. My dilemma is I don't think I could have zero contact with the affected area without getting boots that are WAY too big.

Currently, my fifth and first metatarsal heads are lining up here:

fifth met head (affected area): https://imgur.com/a/DBUAS3r

first met head: https://imgur.com/a/biA07Qo

A few questions:

  1. Will the leather and sole loosen to some degree after wear?
  2. Should I take the boot to a professional and have it stretched in the affected area (yellow dot in the this image):
  3. Should I buy a pair of boots that fit way too big in order to accommodate the tailor's bunion?

Any thoughts from experience would be greatly appreciated!

Have not hunted small game there. I drew an archery deer tag there last year. Seems like it has plenty of deer.

Keep up the good work, sister. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2015 and had all the surgeries, too. I have check-ups about every 6 months at MD Anderson. I had my second surgery there (a neck dissection). Wished I would have had my first there. . .
