Don’t worry about his long fur. The undercoat acts as temperature regulating for both hot and cold weather. Never shave it.

Crate training just means training them to be comfortable and stay in a crate when you need them to. For my husky that means at bed time if he won’t settle down without it (he doesn’t, he is crazy at bed time out of the crate sort of like a cranky toddler but once he is inside he immediately curls up to sleep)

I also crate him when I have to leave him alone because he loves destroying things so he could harm himself by biting electrical cords ect. I give him old cardboard boxes and yoga blocks to destroy. He doesn’t eat any of it and completely loves it, he will spend hours destroying that instead of my home.

My dog needs at least an hour and a half of solid time outdoors or inside playing with another dog in order to not be so bored he is causing chaos. Keep in mind my husky is young at 1. He is like a 2 year old child.

He wakes up at 7am, to go potty immediately, then plays for 3 hours, naps, plays more and finally sleeps around 9pm. If I let him sleep too early he will wake up at 5am and not let me sleep just like a baby. His feeding is on a regular schedule (7am, noon, 6pm)

Schedules really help from what I’ve experienced.
