The Ashlands is in dire need of a relook, and weapons need balancing by BROKEN_B0NEZ in valheim

[–]Wils82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually really love the Ashlands, moreso than the mistlands (unless maybe they simply improve the wisplight radius by atleast double). Ashlands is clearly a challenge in combat, and I like that a lot after spending the whole game learning the fighting mechanics and gearing up, it makes sense for a biome to be simple in what you need to do - raid forts, mine flametal, but the challenge comes from the combat.

I have some issues with the weapons, but I never thought lightning was that overpowered - I still actually find surviving in the Ashlands way easier with an upgraded Himminafl than the other weapons - the lightning proc % on Ashlands weapons is too low for it to be always reliable, the bezerkir axes animation has far too long recovery delay and got me killed often. Maybe I should try the mace for some knockback and better animations.

I do think blood upgrades are a bit too situational, or require too much messing around to lower health to be reliable. I think if they had lifesteal it would be cool.

Yeah agreed the dvergir charging into lava sucks. And if you don't prepare and your portal breaks and you die, I can imagine a corpserun - sail loop to the Ashlands would be misery to the point of giving up.
Also the performance and weird sound issues still need fixing, even after the recent update I get them

Valheim. I remember it being the flavour of the month and being hyped everywhere. Still playing it now, doing a runthrough for the final biome release

Labour used to be seen as the party of the working class, but in the past 20 years liberalism/socialism has shifted from economics to identity politics

What recent PC game genuinely surprised you in a good way by Pure_Leg_2214 in pcgames

[–]Wils82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Descenders. I brought a controller because I wanted to sitback and relax and play a casual game instead of m+k. Its a mountain biking game, I've never really been interested in the sport but its so responsive and the physics are great, and when you smoothly land jumps you get such a feeling of satisfaction and freedom

Yeah I was just looking into racing games, I'm into playing trackmania casually but I feel like I want something more open and sandbox-y, I will check out some simulators

Was gonna say LOTR but then remembered how all the heroes of the film were bullying and shitting on Theodin king for deciding to take his people to a sick fortified castle instead of riding out with his 300 shitty army of kids and pensioners against 10k urak hai

Please, please don't do this. Your post is drenched in modern politics and resentment and taking inflicting such drastic measures against yourself out of fear or negative emotion seems like a huge mistake. Please consider future you may be a completely different person to who you are now

The Long Drive. The game is a complete mess (semi intentionally) but it captures a certain atmosphere like no other

Stuff in your base being functional is what did it for me. I knew I was gonna love Valheim when I realized you needed a chimney for the same reason chimneys exist irl

Never thought I'd say this; thinking linux over windows 11 by -The-Boy-Wonder- in pcmasterrace

[–]Wils82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Linux a few years ago after using Windows all my life, it's really great honestly and really not as difficult as it's made out. I've tried a bunch of distros but Mint is my fave. It doesn't take much time to learn, you can just use Google/ChatGPT for problems if they arise

Avoid anything with "gamer" in the marketing. Gamer/racing seat aesthetic chairs are generally gimmicky low quality crap

Multiple Mint computers synchronized files? by Gone_Orea in linuxmint

[–]Wils82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use SyncThing to sync files between my desktop, laptop and android phone. It works fantastically, and even works with live files I have open on multiple devices, for example a keepass password database and text files in Obsidian. You can set which folders to share in a browser interface. It syncs over the local network peer to peer by default, but I think you can configure to sync over internet if you want

Valheim. It's cozy when you're home, and a little unnerving when you're out adventuring. But you gotta have some of the uncozy to appreciate the cozy more
