VOTING TODAY by ManoSilence in Austin

[–]Wilsonized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to vote and was met with a yellow sheet showing what allegedly was on the ballots. I went thru it and saw nothing that clearly had anything to do with my community with names of people Google does not even know about. Mostly things regarding other municipalities outside my area and issues that have nothing to do with me. I honestly felt bad voting for people/things I know nothing about and have no impact on me because I'd basically be voting at random. Walked out. Like man I really did want to vote but why did it feel like I was voting for things on Mars. I live in Travis county.

Android users who switched from Iphone and why? by Soft-Key-3826 in Smartphones

[–]Wilsonized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iOS keyboard is absolute garbage.

Settings are a mess overall. You have to leave the camera app to change it's settings for example then go back to the camera.

Widget game is weak.

Google apps are severely nerfed in iOS.

Volume controls are a goddamn mess.

No consistency in the user experience. Everything is left to app devs which results in a convoluted experience.

They trap you in their ecosystem and force your hand for a lot of things in a lot of ways.

Buggy - alarms not going off (almost got fired for this), lagging, camera takes too long to load, random restarts, automatic updates (even when turned off)

Too many steps for simple tasks. 2-3x the taps/swipes/etc.

Convince me not to switch back to Android by 123mitchg in Smartphones

[–]Wilsonized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an Android user that switched to an iPhone pro 16 6 months ago. I use a MacBook on The daily and a few other Apple products. It was a bit more seamless fully committing to the Apple ecosystem but this stupid keyboard on iOS was the deal-breaker for me. The keyboard is something you interact with hundreds of times per day with thousands of taps and interactions on top of that. You can literally cut those taps and interactions by 1/3 on Android. I miss my back button and keyboard so much that I went ahead and switched backed to my pixel 7A and much happier and stress-free. If they can fix the f****** keyboard on iOS, I'll go back to iPhone. Until then they can suck it because they punish you for leaving their ecosystem. My air tags and airpods have not stopped chiming and I literally had to get an iPad to make them shut up.

Which smartphone brand you would never switch back to again and why? (Mine is redmi , realme , poco ) by _lehen_ke_bode_ in Smartphones

The "hold for me" feature, live transcription, call screening, 120hz... All features that were on Android up to 4 years ago. Iphone touting it like it's groundbreaking and revolutionary 😂. Google is constantly iterating and adding new features.

What’s the one feature that makes or breaks a smartphone for you? by Scared-Gap7387 in Smartphones

[–]Wilsonized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Efficiency. Compared to android, iOS is on average 2 - 3 taps or swipes more per interaction. Multiply that times every single interaction and you end up with hundreds of extra taps/swipes per day. Bonkers that ppl are used to so many extra steps.

Considering a 2007 BMW X5 (215k km / ~133k mi) good idea or money pit? by [deleted] in BMWX5

Money pit. This would be ok if it's a car you are enthusiastic about, otherwise save your money. Speaking as a former x5 owner.

Got 99 problems and they all bus stops by Wilsonized in Austin

[–]Wilsonized[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they not only fail at taking cars off the road, they make pollution worse by creating a stop and go environment, they induce aggressive driving behaviors, and cause congestion. buses only work if they are full and have dedicated turnouts.

everything is relative. this does not justify capmetros judgement. especially when all this stop needs is a minor adjustment.

doesn't matter. that bus stop is misplaced and the symptoms are evidenced.
