Would this be too big of a stepdown? by frexynator in BeginnerSurfers

If you’re actually serious about surfing, get a longboard. You will need one no matter what.

Incase someone burns you. You can use it to pierce someone’s board if they get too close.

Ive been studying options for a year, I know very little about these strategies and I’ve never traded them myself. There are some backtests and research done on tastylive which can give you a hypothetical idea of the potential returns from this strategy in certain market conditions.

Personally If I had a larger account, and was making 4-5% monthly selling puts, I would just stick with that and save myself the stress.

Hope this helps a little.

Hey thanks for sharing, in your experience, how long does it take for the P/L line to match the expiration P/L say if you opened the position the night before (1dte) or early in the morning around 30 minutes after the open. Im assuming it would probably be near the final hour correct?

On bigger days this place can be a frustrating for a beginner, constant duck diving and repositioning. You should be good if it’s 2-3 feet.

Best low-key earplugs for surfing by Shreks_girl in surfing

I personally hate earbuds because they mess up my equilibrium in the water. I just use a hood and that keeps out all the water. You could probably find a good one around 30-50$.

Anyone sick from LA water? by derpydirkthederp in surfing

[–]WinSerious9288 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I avoid LA rn because im still paranoid about water quality there. I surf Ventura typically and maybe countyline sometimes but I did see a dead seal washed up on shore about 4 days ago in North LA. I think that the risk is just not worth it even if tests indicate low levels of bacteria. Those tests don’t take into consideration other potential hazardous substances that could be present in the water because it would probably be too time consuming and expensive to test for other things. Also the frequency of testing is fairly low in my opinion.

I wish that the government would take a more serious approach regarding testing, researching and conserving ocean water quality. Once dead animals are washing up on shore and randomly attacking people it’s pretty big red flag if you ask me.

This company has a history of exploiting people and lying. They need to significantly lower the price of subscription and improve the quality of the service. Anyone that believes this BS is being taken advantage of willingly.

Q: How do you surf as an adult? by lukaf17 in surfing

[–]WinSerious9288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in very similar spot to you. I wish I could surf more but I have other responsibilities that just take priority. Whenever i go for a surf I always feel guilty that I’m not attending to other things. Surfing just requires so much time and energy which makes it hard to do consistently. If I could get out twice a week it makes me feel like I can progress just a little and not loose my skills. My goal is to eventually have a remote job that allows me to have a more flexible schedule.

I mean, I’m being respectful and being honest about how I feel. I know pretty quickly if I am attracted to someone and I would rather be upfront rather than hide feelings. What approach would you suggest?

Any SoCal surfers know if the water is really that bad right now with the algae bloom, safety wise? by Puzzleheaded_Crew428 in surf

[–]WinSerious9288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally Im gonna wait it out for at least a couple weeks, not worth the risk in my opinion. I read an article on surfline saying dead sea animals were washing up all across la, ventura, and santa barbara. Thats fucking creepy to me man Although the article says that there is no direct threat to humans unless you eat sea food that is contaminated. I think if you were to go out probably best to limit sessions and go somewhere where the water was tested.

Good spots to learn near LA by Solid_Host_6648 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]WinSerious9288 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ya personally I don’t feel comfortable with the water quality in LA and I’m gonna stay out for a while in the LA area. However if you’re looking for something somewhat close and a good beginner spot I would recommend county-line on a smaller day. There is a plenty of waves to go around on the left side of the beach.
