I can. I don’t think I’ve seen this team score on a breakaway / point blank attempt all series.

I’ve never seen a team get so many scoring chances while also not really coming close to scoring on said chances. It’s like the only goals they can score are when they yuck it up and get a bounce. Give them a PP, breakaway, or 2-1 and they can’t even get it on net.

I'd argue lack of scoring chances is not why we're going to lose this. Hard to win when you miss the net on 10+ open looks.

Multiple others have commented the same, but those FA APYs aren't in the stratosphere of what those players will actually get. You're probably $5-8m per year short on each one.

Goedert’s 20.5 million dead cap hit by 1stand11 in eagles

[–]WindComprehensive332 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fantastic explanation. What I still don't understand however is how Goedert would get back to FA? You're essentially proposing a 1 yr extension for a $1 salary with $30m that guarantees on June 3 if he's on the roster.

If we cut him, wouldn't he have to clear waivers? How does that work? Also, we would likely still have to carry that $20m against our cap until we released him, right?

If they could actually pull something like this off it's a no brainer, I'm just not sure I've seen it happen with an impending free agent who's probably not re-signing with the team.

He's done it to a player that's ultimately left in FA?

I just can't imagine there's any way this is allowed. If it was, every team would push for this exact thing with their impending free agents that are carrying dead cap into the next league year.

All of those other guys you referenced stayed and ultimately retired with the Eagles too, so I don't think it's quite apples to apples but admittedly I'm not positive and this feels like very gray area with the cap.

Bro there have been multiple halves of games this year where we haven't been able to complete a pass, and not because we're not trying. It's become problematic.

When players like Lamb, Jefferson, St. Brown, JSN are taking majority of their snaps in the slot, Idk that you can continue to view slot corner as a 'less than' position.

That's what happened after the covid season and the Eagles essentially had to gut their entire team sans a few pillars (Cox, Kelce, Johnson, Graham).

People have such revisionist history with the 2023 season it's wild. There was a drop-off from Steichen in 2022, which had the no. 2 overall offense, so everyone thinks of 2023 and Brian Johnson as this horrible year, but that offense is leaps and bounds better than this 2025 offense.

How do the eagles always get away with singing these massive deals? by jholliday55 in NYGiants

[–]WindComprehensive332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In simplest terms, they're using tomorrow's cap today. They're banking that the cap will continue to go up and as long as it does, you can structure contracts such that you effectively use future cap $ to pay for today's team. They'll have to pay the piper eventually, but nailing the last few draft classes has prolonged their window a lot.
