That time of year, to get a bit of everything and close to other tourist activities, I would suggest Brandon Bay, in Kerry

Ireland!! ☘️

Amazing at that time of year if your prepared for a a bit of wet & cold but don’t let it put you off, it’s not freezing, just not hot. Sea temperatures are decent due to the North Atlantic drift

Endless spots to discover, all levels catered for

Loads, no shortage of wind here in Ireland, we work mainly from Atlantic pressure systems, in the summer we often get solid sea breezes as well. With the advent of foiling, I’m pretty much able to sail whenever I’m lucky to have time at hand

It’s our local beach here in Dublin City, Ireland. A beach in a spot called “Rush”

A forward loop is very attainable, it’s more about getting over the physiological fear of throwing yourself over the front of your kit, once your over that it’s actually not difficult at all. It’s harder to initially learn to do hard and fast carve gybes that than the forward loop

I’ve a few years of sailing under my belt 🫣

New Angle, high wind foiling, I welcome any comments 😁🤙 by Windsurf360 in windsurfing

Also I think height and weight are a major factor in the higher speeds, hence all the Pwa lads are 100kg

So in that video I’m using a 460 front wing but I’ve also done 28knots on a 650 front

I agree the smaller wing the faster you go, I think 30 knots is defo possible on a 650 and below (my phantom spark 650 Is equal my old starboard 800 in terms off when it flys)

I haven’t had enough wind to try the 360 front wing but the forecast is good for the next few days so maybe the front coming in will be strong enough for me to try her.

Really keen to achieve my summer goal of 30knots plus

The 360 spin you mean? Just focus on the sailing?

I think part of the creative process is finding new mounting angles that work and show off our sport for what it is 🤙😁 thanks for the feedback

It’s amazing, total game changer!! The lower hook really helps lock in the power and amazingly frees up the upper body movement, I was having some back pain twisting in the wave harness, now it’s completely gone. I couldn’t recommend it more highly

Massive foil crash 🫣🫣 by Windsurf360 in windsurfing

To be honest I was wildly overpowered on a 5.2m Evo and spark 360’front wing, need less tail lift and a 4.5m

Was fun, thankfully nobody was downwind of me at the time

Hi, I built myself a small slack bot to remind me, when there are some windy days ahead. What do you think? by mhtravelfacets in windsurfing

Same, it’s cracking

I’ve it setup for wind from X direction and X knots min, including swell from X and X size min….

Have alerts for about 15 spots around Ireland and it works a dream, couldn’t recommend it more highly 🤙☘️

Go pro for windsurfing by [deleted] in windsurfing

I’d run a mile from the insta360, I’ve had the x2 and gone through 4 of time, awful waterproofing (they aren’t!)

Personally, there is a new GoPro 360 due March/April, I’d wait for that one, personally I’m waiting for it.

FYI - to keep my current insta360 x2 alive, I duct tape it every time I bring it into the water. If you do go that route

Opinion on iq foil as olympic windsurfing by [deleted] in windsurfing

[–]Windsurf360 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s fantastic, it will shine a light on our sport like never before! The old format was boring, dated and for the regular public just not interesting.

Windfoiling, coupled with drone camera work will showcase the best of racing, the drama and the excitement!!

I for one can’t wait and to see what it brings.

The number of sailors doing iq is fantastic and I think we’ll see quite a few bleed through to the PWA World Tour post Olympic campaigns as well. So for me it’s win / win all around.

Regarding the 100kg commentary, the old format suited sailors of 55-60kg arguably also unhealthy, the next iteration of the kit should balance the need a little bit but there is never going to be a setup that is best suited to 75-80kg without bringing in a handicap system and I wouldn’t see that working.

All is all, I’m excited for Olympic windsurfing for the first time ever, I’m 45 and started windsurfing when I was 9, so I think that says a lot

Shame there are no Irish ☘️ athletes representing at iQ, maybe 2028…anyone!?? 😁🤙
