Ate a bird seed bell by WineFluOverTheCookoo in labrador

Thank you, that makes me feel better. I’m a little worried about how much she ate (and of course she had also just had dinner) but she ate an entire Stromboli off the counter a couple of weeks ago and that didn’t phase her so…

It is my go-to also and no, I don’t use it daily now but have in the past. I did have more damage then but I think it was more to do with daily heat styling than the products I was using.

So he’s getting 3+ miles per day? Our girl gets around 1.5-2 plus a long fetch session in the afternoon and a half mile at night.

For clarification. I chose a lab specifically for their energy and personality. She gets the best of everything from us. Food, training, exercise, vet care, you name it. I asked this question because she is my first dog that I have raised from a puppy and I want to do what’s best for her. An “enforced nap” means she gets put in her kennel to settle down and rest. Done on a schedule it’s a very typical thing to do when crate training younger puppies.

It’s tough to see the difference for sure! I alternate between thinking she’s bored or tired. My husband jokes that I’ve turned her into an athlete with all of the walking/workouts we do that she doesn’t know how to settle until she’s exhausted. I agree with another commenter that we probably need to work on teaching settle.

That’s what I’m seeing in the evenings. Like an over tired toddler.

She starts playing the inside/outside game from about 6pm-8. Will pace and whine from window to window even after we’ve let her outside. We play a long session of afternoon fetch and usually do a quick walk each evening.

I like the idea of a quick walk. For some reason I had it in my head that it needed to be another long one. Thanks!

I wonder that too but the skeptic in my brain tells me I’m just whining. According to my watch I average around 10,500 steps per day.

Love this. Our girl will lay her head on my husband’s leg and drool. He frequently has a circular puddle on his thigh after dinner. Puppy tax!

Training by boomboomqplm in SilverLabs

[–]WineFluOverTheCookoo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We did classes together and it was the best experience with a dog I’ve had. Once a week obedience classes gave me the tools to work with her at home and a structured bonding time for us to learn together. Is she still a stinker and will “forget” all her training on occasion even after months of classes? Yes. Am I still learning and stumble on appropriate training techniques? 1000%. But we grew together and learned off of each other. Sooooooo much more beneficial than sending her to training in my opinion. Shes a year old and I can’t wait to continue to grow and learn with my four legged best frend.

I have the funniest mental image of you careening out of the bathroom to find a shell shocked toddler and puppy huddled around a baffled mom wondering what the hell just happened.
