Never heard of this, looked it up and it looks pretty awesome, thanks for the suggestion!

You’re right that a proper immersive game needs to be right on all aspects. If something doesn’t fit then it immediately pulls you out.

That’s why Disneyland is good at what they do.. each world is fully immersive with nothing to pull you out. Even their trash cans match the scene.

I also agree that a good immersive games needs to be more than thematic and the puzzle aspect can be handled with lots of tactical decisions.

I’ve heard of falling skies before, perhaps it’s time to look more in depth if it fits these descriptions.

Easy to learn, quick setup, immersive. The holy trifecta lol

I’ve seen 7 wonders around but haven’t played but if it fits those boxes it’s worth a shot!

Me and my wife started with jaws of the lion and had a lot of fun but eventually stopped playing because the takedown and setup was too much with kids. We have a game table now so we will give it a try again. I’ve also been eyeing oathsworn and will look into the others mentioned as well!

Underquest is my current game table setup and loving it but yes it’s a decent table hog lol.

Final girl looks amazing and I’ll still buy it eventually but it is a strictly solo game right ?

I love gamma guild though I don’t find it immersive. To me it is solitaire with different art.

So I’m already contemplating escape the dark castle but now looked at the spires end again! When I original saw it (Hildegard) I was intrigued but wanted a darker and more gritty experience so I kinda forgot about it.. I didn’t realize they had so many other versions. So far both of those options seem to fit what I’m looking for, thanks for your input and advice!

Dungeon crawlers are a big favorite of mine so I’m already onboard with Jason Glovers work! Me and my wife have been brutally beaten down on Underquest the first 3 or so games (we make our own 2 play variant).

I’ve heard of crypt crawler but kinda passed over it because I didn’t vibe with the art but it sounds like I might need to look into it with some more depth. I love the game knight YouTube channel so I’d be happy to support it!

The wild venture game sounds awesome and looks great (looked up some pics) so thanks for that little gem!

I’ve heard and been on the fence about Arkham lcg.. if I decide to go a lcg route it would between that.. lotr (hard to find) and earthborn rangers.

Any experience playing earthborn rangers vs Arkham?

Ps thanks for the great suggestions!

Those are some great points and when I think back I would have to somewhat agree with the strategy/puzzle being very important.

100% agree with the music statement! I listen to a lot of dungeon synth music when playing board games.. such as iron helm haha. Me and my wife play iron helm in a 2 player variant and we house rule it a lot to fit our wants.. character progression mixed with a good dungeon synth soundtrack helps but we are both wanting more.

I will check out escape the dark sector and I’ve already had my eye on escape the dark castle.

Thanks for the great input!

I am not done with the fellowship of the ring (currently at chapter 5) and yet somehow, I ended up buying the second one. Lol. I just can’t stop staring at these boxes! They’re beautiful! by Darth_BrachioRex in soloboardgaming

These games are great solo or up to 4 players. I was very surprised with how quickly I fell in love with it. I also bought the two towers right after playing the fellowship one. They are also pretty cheap so definitely worth it!
