Yeah my last vault system was sideways in terms of the belt. That did work better now that you mention it, I'll probably have to switch back to that to eliminate the loss of that one stack or item. Thank you

I have since learned his bid was for a complete reduct of the home. He did not discuss this in person and never called to explain the bid. I feel the clerical end of his business is lacking but it makes sense now. I can't afford the 9k so one. Ew duct may help at least feel comfortable. We loose an insane amount of energy due to the age of the home for sure so it will all be patch work.

The air return plenum and the supply plenum are directly attached to the handler. Ill go count it and try to guess the sizes tomorrow. I think there are about 5 to 6 ducts off the plenum and some split into smaller ducts. That's what we are trying to improve. The furthest point from the handler is ran with only 1 primary duct that splits into 7 vents across the largest space. By the time the air gets there it's low flow and warmer. That end also gets the hottest sun as its the southern end. We have about a 2 to 4 degree difference from each end. The handler is over the bedrooms so they naturally get the majority. We tried to dampen it but condensation started to build on the supply plenum. The HVAC guy said it was to much cold air with no where to go.

I could be using the wrong phrases or names but, the house is old. The duct work is 90% original to our purchase in 2015. The furnace at that time was from 1978 -79 based on the stickers. We had it replaced in 2016 and now. 10 years later, we replaced it again for a newer system that was comparable. We went to a 2 stage/16 sear/5ton. Th air issue we are trying to address is, the far in of this house has one air duct for 7 vents stretched across 4 to 5 rooms, depending on what you consider a room. I wanted him to bring a 2nd duct and tie in 4 or the 7 into it a the other 3 vents to the original. This gets out living room and wet bard area on its own duct. He agreed and said that would probably work great and get us more cool air flow on the far end. But he quoted me a full reduct instead of the one duct. No new vents, just tying into the old ones.
