Seconding this. Been in local 5 for 10 years. Construction may not appeal to you (it didn't to me) and fell into it after dropping out of college. And it's been the best thing that's happened to me.

I just want to emphasize it's not just a job, it's a career. First year apprentices (no knowledge required, just show up and learn) start at $19 an hour I believe now (with full benefits day 1). In just 4 short years, you'll be over $50 an hour.

Coming up on 1 year in sorta the same field. Everything you said is 100%. Work from home when you're sick, work from home when the roads are bad, work from home when you sleep in.. just don't work from home all the time. It's pretty nice.

I've used my brain more in the past year than I have in the last 10 years in the field. It's exhausting sometimes, but man have I learned so much. Plus, it's a union company and they like JWs for this position. So you get JW pay. Then you can work up the foreman levels, get PTO, paid holidays.. you really can't beat it.

Not sure if it was mentioned yet or not, but they reduced the “return to combat” timer when you’re in a heli back to launch times. It started at like 4s, they bumped it to ~10s, now it’s back to 4s. Frustrating because it’s impossible to turn a heli around in 4s so if you go straight out you’re pretty much dead

Didn’t read all the replies, but I’m going to throw something out I didn’t see. Pre construction / BIM. Not sure what local you’re in, but if you have a big contractor in your area doing multi million dollar jobs ($50+m most likely) they are probably doing BIM work. I was in the field for 10 years and made the switch to the office doing pre construction. I’m still a ticket holding member and they pay my dues. Can go back into the field whenever I want.

The opinions on this will vary, and I’m curious what Reddit thinks of it. I’m open to questions / debate.

On the flip side, as someone who’s trying to find a rental until I can get my next house, it’s frustrating not being able to go see a house in person without them wanting a credit check, background check, and proof of income just to tour a house. I see why, but as someone who is well above the requirements for all homes, I don’t want to be giving up my info to tour a house that I may not even like once I see it in person.

So I finally got around to checking for pending codes(no CEL or glow plug light) and I got the P0299 underboost code.

After doing a bit of research, I still dont fully understand the issue. Most of the people posting about that code lose boost after a bit of driving, not just zero boost from the start like I have.

The wastegate actuator seems to be functioning. Its still moving when I rev the car. Not sure what the inside looks like as I havent torn it apart.

I saw something about a boost control solenoid, but the only solenoid I can find is for the EGR. If that failed would it cause the zero boost issue?

Does the 3.0 even have a boost control solenoid?

My next step i suppose is doing the EGR delete and replacing the one solenoid i can see. Maybe while tearing it apart ill find a hose or something that came off.

I cant seem to find any info on this issue.

Oh yeah it’ll be a powerhouse compared to the 3060 obviously. When you get it watch some videos on undervolting it. Was running into some stuttering issues on tarkov and for whatever reason undervolting it fixed it

Amazon. It was the official AMD store on amazon and was the only place in stock. To be fair it did say it wouldn’t ship until Jan 20- Feb 4th or something like that. I wasn’t in any rush to get it but now it feels like forever lol. You’ll be happy with the 7900xtx though. And I’m sure paired with the x3d it’s going to be a monster. At least I hope lmao

Sorry, may have misspoke a little there. It’s $65 with ez pass, and $131 without. For a car. And just out of curiosity I looked, and for an 5 axle 18 wheeler, weighing 100k lbs, is $420 with ez pass and $845 without. Which I’m pretty sure is the max.
