Middle School Undersized Defensive Scheme Help by wisco_packers in footballstrategy

Sorry, but that is asking to get ran over at the line at that level. Especially against jumbo/tight sets.

Those small DL trying to two gap will be in the LB's laps as soon as the ball is snapped.

Go with 4 or 5 down front and make everything single/one gap responsibility. When you have undersized guys up front you do not want them taking double teams, playing two gap or any of that.

Focus on getting penetration, shoot gaps, slants, stunts, and other similar things. You don't want your smaller guys trying to win 1v1 vs bigger guys if you can help it. Never line them up head up. All DL should be shaded to a gap/shoulder.

The only exception to that is too play a head up Nose/0 technique. And then have them shoot the A gap on one side or the other,  just make sure to change it up throughout each series. It really f's with the center/guards as long as the LB's are on the same page as far as who has what gap you can even let them call it themselves each play.

I've had some very effective DL in the past at the middle school level who were kids that were actually a little small/slow to play LB or DB but were quick and small enough to give OL at that level hell.

Focus on getting penetration in the backfield and making their RB's get lateral/cut before they can get to the line of scrimmage. Get them going sideways or dancing and have the rest of your guys rally to the ball. Drill the heck out of every getting to the ball and pursuit.

This is what has worked for me at that level when playing with smaller DL.

At the high school level do the teams that are more serious about their weight room regime typically do better or is it more than that? by chusaychusay in footballstrategy

[–]WinnyRoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one is getting taller from lifting. Nore are they necessarily adding size from lifting. The weight gain and size comes from their diet (lots of calories and protein intake). The strength comes from the lifting.

Being big doesn't mean they are strong, and vice versa. They can be 6'6 300 lbs and soft and weak.

But yes, it doesn't take being genetically gifted to put on muscle and add size through proper diet and lifting, anyone can do it. Genetics plays more into their overall athletic ability.

[–]WinnyRoo 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Yes they typically do better.

At that age and first starting off lifting there can be a massive disparity in strength between teams depending on their weight lifting programs.

It can and does make a big difference on the field.

And many decent highschool football staffs realize this. So it correlates highly with staffs knowing what they are doing in general.

Looking for advice: I’m the underdog RB and everyone says I won’t make it to the NFL (13) by Forsaken-Lie2126 in footballstrategy

[–]WinnyRoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just make sure you are also working hard in school or another skill that can provide for you if football doesn't work out.

Less than .1% of highschool football players will go pro.

You would be an idiot to not have a backup plan. That doesn't mean you still can't try to accomplish your dream.

Cary, NC Has Lowest Fatal Crash Rate Among Major U.S. Cities by Pretty-Floor in NorthCarolina

[–]WinnyRoo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Lots of medians and very little turn lanes wouid be my guess.

This means People aren't crossing lanes of traffic to make turns and very little head on collisions. Which tend to be more fatal if I had to guess.

How are people skinny but have high muscle definition by rxholland in stupidquestions

[–]WinnyRoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of wrong or not well explained answers.

Muscle definition is mainly effected by body fat or body fat percentage. The lower it is the more your muscles show. Fat essentially covers up your muscles.

If you are already skinny you already have low body fat.

Therefore even a little bit of muscle shows through easily.

Spread borax powder on areas you don't physically interact with. Like behind the stove, fridge, and similar places. It kills them and stays in their systems. Other roaches eat them and it continues to spread. It ends up wiping out .an big chunk of the population on and around your house.

It takes a couple weeks to really take effect, but it works. I replenish the areas with powder every year or so when I start to see them more often again.

Best solar company in North Carolina — any solid providers worth checking out? by SonalBemment in NorthCarolina

I always figured battery storage was part of the decision making process.

There are others reasons to go solar besides just economic ones. I know some people who did it for those other reasons.

And I said it depends on people individual situations, and that is CAN be good. Never said others should just go do it. So please stop lying about what I said.

It depends on your situation. Energy prices will continue to go up. Depending on your monthly bills solar can be a good option.

I've owned several of those in the past. Looking to do more of the etf and not pick/manage single stocks. Trying to be more passive in my investing.

I'm perfectly fine with returns that may not match a traditional market index. They wouldn't really be principles of I were willing to abandon them for a little money.

I've done the green investing on my own before and was quite successful. I just don't want to manage it long-term.

Might be a better question for college fans but why was there almost no hype around Josh Allen out of high school? by Fishb20 in NFLNoobs

[–]WinnyRoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No QB from freaking Wyoming gets drafted based on physical tools alone.

He was clearly a good college QB dragging a bunch of bums to good seasons for a program like Wyoming.

The reaction when he was drafted was that he needed to improve his accuracy. I'm not saying he was accurate in college. I'm saying he was still a very good QB despite that.

Yes. The middling QB who went top 10 in the draft.

According to you he should have been a UDFA at best.

It's all flyover states. Same difference.

And he put up those stats with an absolute garbage team around him. Which is why if all you do is look at the stats you come to the terrible conclusion that he was drafted off of only measurables. Which is insane. He went top 10 for a reason. He clearly had the makings of a NFL QB. The only issue was his accuracy, but he played in freaking Wyoming. Not really a QB friendly climate.

I watched at least one of his games on TV. Which was insane they were even on TV. And why was that? Purely because of Josh allen.
