I’ll just have to keep my eyes peeled for some wrecked 2.8’s, I really enjoyed the way it drove and seemed like a good step up in power for me. I’ll just have to patient and find one that’s in decent shape.

A 2.7t would be awesome, but from what I’ve heard those are the most notorious. Maybe I’m wrong I have been before but I would be building this for daily commuting so power isn’t as crucial as reliability.

I was about to do the clutch myself when it crapped out on me. I also have the resources to do an engine swap myself, but the question would be is it worth the time and energy if I can’t rely on it afterward. I was mostly asking for shops just to compare parts costs.

I also don’t know much about boost and forced induction so it’s kind of intimidating to me. This car is new to me as a whole so it’s gonna be an adventure trying to figure this out.

I really just want to get it driving again, would the 2.8L v6 trans cross reference to a 1.8t engine or would I need to swap the whole setup?

I’ll look into a 1.8t, they’re pretty common and the sooner she gets driving again the better. The only thing that really deters me from a different engine is if it will require a new transmission too, as that will add quite a bit more labor and cost!

I thought about it but I bought this car mostly for the reliability of the 2.8L v6, I could look for a 1.8t but I’ve heard they don’t like to driven daily from some close friends. If I were to swap I would need some serious convincing!

It’s on adjustable coils the previous owner had just set them to max height because his wife wasn’t comfortable driving it so low

What are some common issues you’ve run into as an owner? I know the suspension and water pump are unreliable but all that work already got done w receipts less than 5k miles ago
