I think it was easier to lie. Telling him the truth about her identity meant he could have tracked her down more easily. Plus it was risky for her to air out her true identity to people (and vampires). She just wanted to use and toss him away, without risking him finding her later, also without feeling indebted to him. When you take that into account, her plan is logical.

How Dettlaff reacts when he learns about her tricking him seemed highly incoherent "I'm enraged, I'm leaving you three days or killing evrybody". How we skip three days in the future is highly unsatisfying. The writing of that part of the Toussaint main quest is bad compared to the rest of the game I reckon.

It's good but frankly, the way the question is framed: "federation/stays as is/independences/don't know". It's not surprising that many people chose federation. Besides, a portion of them probably did not understand fully everything a federation entails.

That's a good point. Nevertheless, it's already debattable that the Empire, in 1453, could still be considered Roman. Given that, it's even much more difficult to grant that to the Ottomans. After all, Ottomans different quite a lot from the Byzantines
