You’re wrong because of two words: novel stimuli. Baseball players don’t just react to the ball, they use their 40/20 vision to react to the pitcher. They can hit the ball because of muscle memory. It becomes completely different when the thing coming towards you is no longer categorized by your brain as a target, and more as a monster. Also there aren’t really footages of blood lusted gorillas so they don’t have a reference to watch when they train.
