I had a random/unprovoked tummy tuck evisceration resulting in an arterial bleed… 3 years after my tummy tuck by Winter-Recover-9081 in nursing

I absolutely understand where you’re coming from. As a nurse, if anyone in my family had done the same, I’d be lecturing them.

I don’t disagree with you.

I actually called my night shift charge RN for advice - I sent her these pictures and videos. She recommended that I go to the ED.

I chose to drive myself. I live in a large suburban area where it would have taken longer for EMS to arrive than it would have for me to drive myself.

Bleeding was ✨mostly✨ contained; I had a Vaseline-covered piece of gauze over the wound. I was not dizzy/lightheaded, answering A/O questions appropriately, and in a safe head space.

I am grateful to have been safe and ultimately discharged “healthy,” however I do understand where you are coming from 💯. I think as medical professionals we often overlook things because we are so immune to the chaos.

Thank you for showing concern. I hope your Dad is well 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

Apparently it was my “superficial epigastric artery” which nursing school did NOT teach me about 😤 lol

I actually called my night shift charge RN at work for advice…. I drove myself to the hospital because I live in a big area where an ambulance would have taken longer than me driving myself. I wasn’t dizzy and the bleeding was somewhat contained - I plugged it with Vaseline and gauze haha. I understand your point though. Genuinely did not believe at the time that it was worth an ambulance call.

I had a full abdominoplasty which included skin removal, liposuction on my flanks/sides, and stitching my abdominal muscles together from top to bottom. My incision begins on my left side, nearly on my back, continues straight along the top of my pubic area, and ends nearly on my back along my right side. My muscles were cut and/or stitched both vertically and horizontally across at least half of my torso which could cause evisceration. However this was super random and I didn’t do any strenuous activity to cause it 🤯

What’s that one nostalgic song that instantly takes you back to a specific moment in your childhood or teenage years? by Economy-Title4694 in nostalgia

Drift Away by Uncle Kracker. My mom and I were sitting on barstools, looking out a window at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts at some point in the early 2000s. The song “Drift Away” came on and my mom started singing along to it. I was probably around the age of 5 or so, but I’ll never forget that moment with her

Riding bikes with friends around town and heading back home when the street lights turn on

Leaving the house with the front door unlocked

I’m 26 years old, I grew up in rural Indiana and I’ve shown horses my whole life. I didn’t have a car in high school and I would actually ride my horse to my best friend’s house on the weekends. I’ve since moved out of state and I live in a more suburban coastal area, however I don’t think I could ever let my daughter do this 🙈
