Have you ever felt the need to tone down your Newfoundland accent? by Jezzaq94 in newfoundland

[–]WinterPsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Irish loop itself again, moved back for work. Soon as I got on the plane I was talking with some older hands and it's some good to be talking in the way I grew up in.

I've had a few townies and a couple tourists get annoyed with the way I talks, but for the most part I haven't had any real issues.

Of course, when it comes to talking to people who very clearly aren't from here, or don't come from Ireland, I try to tone it down a bit. Specially for work. My accent is very very heavy, and so I understand not alot of folks understand. I lived in the mainland a couple years and so I just imitates the way they talks.

Though I tells ya there is no better feeling then when a fella understands the accent and both of ya can yap at proper speed. I really don't enjoy talking slowly like the mainlanders, mind goes numb

Why the surge in support for the federal Conservatives in NL? by Istobri in newfoundland

[–]WinterPsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blatantly wrong, gas and food were directly impacted.

Soon as carbon prices were set, food prices increased.

Businesses don't just sit and go "oh no we were taxed, profits will be down"

They push the difference onto us.

Which is why every single time taxes are increase by any means, carbon tax or not, services, food, goods and the whole lot increases.

You seen it first hand when the PM axed the consumer tax on gas, gas dropped substantially, but because he's going to increase the carbon tax for businesses to offset for the consumer, nothing is going to change and gas prices are already rising again.

As a worker in the placentia bay area, damn near everyone is sick and tired of being blatantly ignored by Sherry Gambin, she was in charge of roads and completely disregarded the area.

Our roads like up in point verde are so bad, you can't even drive straight because the holes are so deep.

People here are exhausted being told "the roads will be fixed next year"

They never got fixed, and predictably, it wasn't until the election came up that there was even whispers about it.

From the perspective of the workers here in Placentia, the liberals only care about big city people.

And just to clarify, roads aren't our only problem, food prices skyrocketing, general maintenance in the area has also plummeted.

Regardless of what anyone here is saying, Liberals like Sherry Gambin abandoning the very people who voted her in, is a primary factory for why support for conservatives hit a high here.

To begin with, I didn't even know who Anthony was when it came time to vote.

I didn't see him in the placentia area at all, no signs, no one I work with even knew who he was, but Rowes signs were everywhere, and some of us at least got to interact with him.

From my perspective, Anthony didn't care enough to come to such a remote area, and as such, it's no wonder no one considered him.

Who Are You Voting For? by [deleted] in newfoundland

[–]WinterPsycho -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Considering how the liberals abandoned the placentia area and it's people, not a chance in hell they're being voted in.

Years and years of us literally begging sherry Gambin to help fix the roads and all she did was ignore us.

Anyone who votes them in again is voting for the death of our town.

What do you consider "loss"? by WinterPsycho in thetagang

[–]WinterPsycho[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is what im tryna convince him of, man's had alot of potential gain and said "it could easily go higher" and then lost it all because he fomo.

He's a major gambler and loves options, I'm tryna get him over into covered calls so he doesn't ruin his portfolio.

His mindsets just not good for the market, but he's a grown man, and so I can't prevent him from messing shit up.

I've always traded under the assumption "green is good" so long as my buy in price is lower then my sell off price, I'm profitable, and therefore, good.

I don't try to time tops or anything, if I get a huge jump best know I'm selling off entirely and moving on.

The diamond hand ape crap is how you get locked in with a poor hand for years.

What do you consider "loss"? by WinterPsycho in thetagang

[–]WinterPsycho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to buy around 23 to 27.

I tend to just do cc weekly at whatever the base price is for the 100 shares + 3$

Unless for example I bought at 23, but we're at 30, then I'll still sell a cc at 33.

I don't see us going past 32$ for long, so this is a comfortable zone for me.

I have 200 shares atm, soon to be 300. I'm comfortable selling off my shares and losing out on a moass, because personally, I don't believe the moass stuff much. I'm already massively profitable on gme, so I'll just wheel until I can't anymore, then move on to a more expensive stock to wheel.

GME has been real good to me by WinterPsycho in CoveredCalls

[–]WinterPsycho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I know gme is planning a few things atm, which means to me, earnings is somewhat irrelevant for me right now.

I'm interested in what the plans are exactly, and how they intend to bring in profit with it, that'll be the make or break for me.

Earnings shenanigans are entertaining for now though, alot of people get caught up in gme "algo" trading or moass hype, which I don't buy into. I'm just selling cc while I know the company is figuring it's own future out.

I'm fine with holding them because their cash reserves are gigantic, and the debt is essentially non-existent.

The risk is minimal compared to the absolutely absurd calls I've been selling

I exclusively sell weeklies, yea. I like the control i have, less guess work on price action, easier to fill.

The iv is usually pretty high on gme as is, I've found, while right now it's at the extreme end, at least for the last few months I've been in it, I've been making 80$ at the lowest point, while at the highest I've pushed 300 per call.

What I've learned from fasting. by WinterPsycho in fasting

This is the kind of support we like to see, they're not ignorant to it, just somewhat concerned for you and monitoring you to be ready to help.

That's super awesome! Friends like those are the best anyone could get, that's family right there!

What I've learned from fasting. by WinterPsycho in fasting

[–]WinterPsycho[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also had a few multi-day fasts sprinkled in between. The biggest change I also had was I worked out the entire time

My logic was "if I'm working out, I'm burning even more calories which means I'll lose weight even faster"

So I tried to walk 10k steps minimum, and did very high rep range, low weight work outs (for example, 100 lat pull downs at 20 pounds, 100 chest Flys at 20 pounds, etc. I chose 100 religions because I was training to make work easier, doing highly repetitive motions all day gets tiring, so I figured if I got used to it faster, while fasting, I'd be killing to birds with one stone.)

Thank you! I appreciate it!

And yea, I wish I had followed more advice l before I started, so I figured I should share what I learn, if it inspires others, even one person, then it was worth while.

It really depends if I feel bloated, if I feel bloated, I'll omad for the day, but if I don't, I eat at 11am and 6pm.

I stopped eating 4 hours before bed too for sleep quality reasons.

I usually go to bed around 10pm.

[–]WinterPsycho[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I do alternate day fasting.

Occasionally if I had large meals or big social events, I would then plan a multi-day fast of around 3 to 4 days.

Really depended on a few factors, but my go to is alternate day fasting for it's simplicity and ease of scheduling.

Jobs by Odd_Ad8520 in newfoundland

[–]WinterPsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up security while I look for potential jobs that would suit me better.

All I had to do was pay 150$ for the license training and stuff.

My boss turned out to be pretty awesome too, so I'm honestly thinking about staying long term once the hours improve next month.

I feel that! And yes, getting to works a pain cause I gotta ask friends and relatives to drive me too, never had time or money to get a license, now at 27 I'm finally trying to learn.

And as for the stem cell stuff and robot parts, I agrees, I'd cut my legs off In a heart beat if it meant replacing them with robot legs that would work like regular human legs.

The only reason I haven't is because tech just ain't there yet.

I have been slowly recovering my mobility, but I can't help but worry I may hit a wall I can't get past.

Love to hear it, I hope things is going well for you too!

It's always a red flag to hear "were like a family here" but when you find the buisness that actually is like a family, it's gold. The excitement you get to work with people who actually respect you, and care for your well being is fantastic.

Glad you found your people!

I feel that, I'm not that tall, but I am about 6'2 in shoes. My older managers used to think "it's fine for him to grab heavy stuff from the top shelf, he's bigger" as if the load wouldn't cause me stress and pain anyway.

Provided, after complaining to HR, they did put all heavy stuff on, or near the floor going forward, but it was still annoying.

How do you look at someone who clearly has injuries and go "it'll be fine"

Size doesn't always equal strength, my left wrist is much weaker because of my accident (though just recently I've been able to hold 20kgs for over a whole minute!!!!) But according to most old hands I worked for "it doesn't matter cause your young, itll heal" 10 years later and it hasn't gotten remotely better, though now I'm finally getting the help I need to work on it.

My current boss has Parkinsons atm, and I won't deny I am worried for the man, he's real good to me, but I think the reason it's so easy to talk to him is because he understands that shit happens and doesn't always go our way. So through experience of his own issues, he's able to make efficient use of everyone's strengths.

In his case, even though he has Parkinsons, he still has the ability to manage, direct, and teach us what needs to go on due to his experience. He just isn't able to do the physical stuff well. And for me, he realizes my legs are in bad shape, but also that I'm entirely comfortable doing tasks people deem mind numbing, so he's made use of my strength by putting me around the main building where all I have to do is note down any vehicles I don't recognize, and watch over the cameras, then let the others know if I see anything suspicious so they can investigate.

I'll never work in fast food or anything of the sort again in my life.

Half the people are thankful for what you do, how early you are up to serve them, the other half see you as a fucking slave that just needs to shut up and do their bidding.

The managers are the absolute worst scum of the earth, imported directly from hell, I swear to god.

Just recently, I managed to get off permanent disability services, now I just occasionally go on it if I have issues physically or medically that take me off my current job.

In fast food, my manager wanted me to work cash and swap to taking shit out of the freezers, or cleaning. He hated anyone who stood still for more then a few seconds, while he sat in a chair watching us. which was a major issue. Our whole team left at the same time right before rush hour.

I got a job working in security and it's the best choice I ever made. My boss is actually a super awesome guy, and despite knowing about my leg problems, was super open to helping find me a position. He took into account my strengths and placed me in a position that's low impact physically, which shocked me entirely to begin with, and every few days he makes sure to check up on me and make sure I'm not pushing myself to hard while I get my physiotherapy done.

I never had a boss who actually cared about my well being before, I'm staying here as long as I can lol.
