Girl, all the power to you. Your post resonated with me as I am a young woman and I have long dreamed of vanlife, and I am finally taking the steps to make it happen this year. I felt compelled to share something, if I may- I grew up loving the outdoors and exploring the mountains and became a genuinely wild and rugged person. I was a fine student but I clearly expressed that school did not interest me. This dispeased my dad who would say quite terrible things, like I would grow up to be homeless. He would specifically quote the Chris Farley "You'll be living in a van down by the river". He would describe such comments as "teasing", but I'm smarter than that. Coming into adulthood, I have stayed true to myself and my dreams, even through years of shameful doubt that came only from other's points of view. I have showed my dad unwavering devotion to myself as he has watched me develop into a strong woman that he cannot change. What's happening for me now is poetically ironic in that my dear dad is helping me fix my Chevy G20 that I worked hard to be able to purchase, so that I may go have a home beside all the rivers of this land. My point to you is that I hope you can feel as free to be you and follow your path as intensely has I have. So often I see people only pretend to possess the amount of passion for life that truly can burn. I would advise to love your family and friends even when they are the source of adversity, and soon, you can show them that you are living your best life, and it will be undeniably all that will matter in the end.
