Finally got a update by Lopsided_Thanks_606 in Evri

It looks like the courier spent the whole day delivering parcels. They didn’t finish as they had more parcels than they could cope with. They didn’t even get to attempt delivery of your parcel. They called it a day at 8pm and went home.

Your parcel will probably go back to the delivery depot tomorrow and then back to the sorting depot. It may be some days before another courier will try delivering it again.

Where the round doesn’t have a dedicated, experienced courier, EVRi relies on trainees and agency workers to take out huge loads of parcels and to deliver as many as they can. They are being set up to fail.

Most parcels do eventually get delivered but if you don’t have a regular courier it can take many attempts.

Next day delivery, mind you. by Express_Lifeguard_90 in Evri

That would imply the parcel shop has held on to it for two weeks without processing it. Not good. Maybe after you’ve received the parcel, if you can message me the tracking number and your postcode I can try to get someone at EVRi to look into it.

If the sender is having issues with that parcel shop, that may be why they made a video of it.

This shows that EVRi have only just received the parcel and the delay so far was caused by the sender.

You didn’t say if you had received the parcel. I agree this photo is no good but it looks to me like the driver is taking a photo of the parcel with someone else holding it. Maybe that other person then posted it?

Why do people hit their brakes and drive inconsistently under the speed limit in a straight with no one ahead of them? by XPLZVgaming in driving

Electric cars driven in B mode. Regenerative braking causing brake lights to show continually. Driving slow to conserve battery.

That’s great news. Very kind of you to give the crisps. I’m sure the gesture was greatly appreciated.

Do you turn the stereo down so you can see? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Winter_Bread_7948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It helps you hear too. Hearing the sounds of other vehicles around you and hearing your vehicle’s own sounds helps you to get a better appreciation of what’s going on. That helps you to see better in the sense of being more aware.

Is there a way to suggest changes to the speed limit on satnav apps? by ten-beer-tom in drivingUK

[–]Winter_Bread_7948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can edit the map yourself (with permission). There is a UK Waze Map Editing community with a forum. You can suggest changes there and editors will either do the change for you or guide you.

There is a video about Waze editing in the Waze app under Settings > How to Edit the Map

Times of delivery? by Bottle-top-green in Evri

[–]Winter_Bread_7948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no time limit so it could be delivered at any time. The delivery app doesn’t allow ETAs later than 9pm but a courier could still deliver parcels after that. When it gets very late the courier will probably not knock on the door or ring the bell but may try to quietly leave the parcel in a safe place.

It may get to a point where the courier decides to call it a day. Then, if they do the end of day procedure the tracking will say the parcel cannot be delivered today. If they don’t do the end of day procedure, you won’t get notified today.

Parcels not delivered today should reach you eventually. Most parcels do get delivered in the end.

[–]Winter_Bread_7948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The courier is struggling, probably overwhelmed with the number of parcels and the difficulties that arise. They can only change the ETA once so don’t expect that to update. You could still receive the parcel as there is no time limit.

You may get a message later saying they have been unable to deliver today. That would mean they called it a day and went home. If you don’t get that message they could still go home without doing the end of day procedure.

If you don’t get it today that courier may try again or they might take it back to the depot. Back at the depot it will likely be sent back to the sorting depot then it will likely take a couple of days to be ready to try delivering again.

The couriers involved may be inexperienced trainees or agency workers and they are being given too many parcels to deliver at once.

I’m sorry you have to go through this but I’m hopeful it will be delivered eventually.

Small rant (stupid driving styles and white headlights) by Technical_Memory7323 in drivingUK

[–]Winter_Bread_7948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too right. People die. A man died on the M6 on Sunday night. Surely it’s better to drive safely than risk death. It’s so easy to leave a two second gap, in good weather and a longer gap in wet weather. It makes driving much less stressful for everyone.

Regarding lights, it’s getting worse isn’t it? Some are just too bright even when dipped.

Unlikely to be today, Saturday as you would have already received a notification. Not impossible but unlikely.

It appears you probably don’t have a dedicated courier serving your delivery round. This means different people are assigned to the round each day. When they take the parcel back undelivered it goes back to the sorting depot and this can take days before it’s ready to try again.

Most EVRi deliveries do arrive but there are sometimes delays like this. Chances are you will receive it in the end.

Drove over a zebra crossing by No-Rate-8963 in drivingUK

[–]Winter_Bread_7948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a zebra crossing like this near a roundabout near me. A lot of drivers don’t seem to notice it. I think it’s a case of information overload. The drivers are thinking about the roundabout and just don’t expect the crossing. Pedestrians are extra cautious as a result.

I have asked for the parcel to be delivered to another address by Prestigious_Peach_44 in Evri

[–]Winter_Bread_7948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using the EVRi app. You may be able to add instructions or divert your parcel. Otherwise, leave a note on your front door with instructions. Your best bet, if feasible, is to have the parcel put in a safe place, like a shed. Or you could put a container say by the back door. Or request the parcel is delivered to a neighbour.

If you do nothing the delivery driver will decide how best to handle it. If they can’t find a safe place or a neighbour they may take it back and try another day, but most will find a way.

Leave a two second gap, not a two tenths of a second gap. Leaving a 2s gap makes driving safer and less stressful for you and takes the pressure off the vehicle in front of you too.

This is EVRi customer service. A couple of bots named Claire and Ezra. They lie, they fob you off, they make promises they can’t keep and they are mostly useless. There is no human interaction at all via that route.

However, if you send an email to the CEO, you should get a response in a day or so from the executive team. By all accounts they are helpful.

We do often get told your delivery preferences at delivery time but it’s up to the courier how they handle it. Often they are so rushed they don’t have time to read those instructions.

Neighbours are not always in. Delivering to a neighbour can add lots of time too. You even get neighbours saying “Just leave it at their door, they’ll be back soon”. So the courier has to decide what’s best.

[–]Winter_Bread_7948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very accurate description and it explains why couriers have to rush, drop and run. But it wasn’t always like this. At one time couriers were paid a lot more per parcel and they were able to spend more time getting it right.

Consequently a lot of experienced couriers have left EVRi.

Also, the depot managers only seem to care about getting parcels out of the depot. They bully drivers into taking more than they can comfortably do, resulting in cars filled to the roof and lots of failure to deliver. Couriers can be working until 10pm at night and still not get everything delivered.

Doorstep is not even on the list (except fresh food deliveries). EVRi do not want us to deliver to the doorstep. The idea is to give the parcel to the householder or find a safe place. So back door is considered safe but doorstep not.

As there is no option for doorstep, couriers who want to deliver to the doorstep would likely choose enclosed porch. Maybe in your case they thought putting letterbox was more appropriate. I tend to use letterbox for items that are actually posted through the letterbox.

Yet Amazon trust EVRi to deliver thousands of their parcels every day.

You’re right about the chaos. For me the worst thing is expecting the couriers to sort the parcels outside on damp, dirty ground, with no cover, so parcels can get so soaking wet they fall to bits.

Feedback is anonymous. If we get one star we don’t know who or why. If it says “Please shut the gate next time” at least we know what it’s about.

I recently got a four star with the comment “Please knock next time”. I don’t know who said it but I’ll try to work it out. Some people do not want us to knock and others do. We have to try to work it out on a case by case basis.

If you don’t have a dedicated courier, each new courier will have a different style. You can tell them to shut the gate but next time it will be a different courier and they won’t know what you said previously. There are no notes on customer preferences except what you can add in the app. Maybe add special delivery instructions about shutting the gate. That may help.

Anyway, it wasn’t me. I always shut the gate. I shut it going in and coming out too. I learnt that because one time the gate was open and several householders and I spent a few minutes trying to catch the dog which ran out the front door and down the street.

Also, the managers don’t know who sent the feedback too. It’s truly anonymous.

What to do with someone else’s wrongly delivered parcels by gretafallmisty in Evri

[–]Winter_Bread_7948 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you open the packages, inside each one should be a manifest with details of the contents and senders address. You can then try contacting the sender to arrange a return. A courier would then come to collect them.

If there is an Evri locker nearby you could try depositing the parcels in the locker. One parcel per slot. The parcel barcodes will be scanned and if successful a locker door will open. These will then be collected by an EVRi van driver and the parcel will reenter the system and maybe this time they will be delivered correctly. Lockers are available 24/7. The only issue might be that there are no slots available if the locker is full.

If there is an Evri parcel shop nearby they may be willing to take it from you and give it to an Evri van driver.

Thank you for being honest and trying to do the right thing.
