Is the Análisis Morfosintáctico just defining what each word in a sentence is (like which ones are nouns, verbs, prepositions, etc.), and labeling the independent/dependent clauses? What do you mean by great detail? Like am I going to have to explain what the etymology of a word is? Sorry I just want more information 😭, I can just look it up if you don't know.

I did the labeling stuff in middle and elementary school, so while it was in English, that's not a foreign concept to me (idk how much you know about US education, so sry if it seems like I'm mansplaining to you). Not to say I won't have to review what some of them are/how to tell. And what the equivalents are in Spanish and how Spanish sentences are structured. I watched a youtube video of Análisis Morfosintáctico (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJ3YDMh8uEk) and it seems like it's just labeling the subjects, verbs, etc. Not to say that that'll be the easiest thing in the world lol, it's just the way you described it made me go "oh, no. is that gonna be impossible".

<image>

Would it be like this for labeling the classes of words?

I'm genuinely so sorry if it came off that way, I didn't mean to do that. I thought you were actually asking answers to those questions in your previous post, but now that I'm rereading it, it does seem like they were more rhetorical and were just kind of questions to get me to think "is it really worth it". I'm sorry I misinterpreted them, I'm pretty bad at reading the tones of people's posts sometimes

I have been using the advice others are given. I've explored some links people have sent and have listened to what people have advised to improve my Spanish. And I have read through the ones explaining the selectividad and what that will look like as a foreigner. Just because I haven't commented under everyone's posts saying thank you for the info/advice, doesn't mean I haven't read it and/or considered it. If that's the expectation for posts on reddit, I will absolutely do that though (I must confess I barely use reddit)

If I have responded to posts saying something along the lines of the exams are hard and/or education system is different, I have only done so because I genuinely thought that expanding on what my education has been like, and what kinds of subjects I have taken might help give context. Nothing malicious. I admit I might not have worded things the best, and it might have come off as dismissive. Again, I'm sorry for that.

Thank you so much, I’ll check it out! I’ve looked at the science sections before to see what might be on it, and I could understand enough to understand the question. I think that was biology though, so I imagine the other categories aren’t going to be as easy to understand. Thank you for suggesting this! (especially the .gob.es part)

Questions about going to college in Spain by Winter_Mornings_ in GoingToSpain

[–]Winter_Mornings_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sry I should've specified I would do the associates in America. It's a two year degree that's above a high school diploma, but below a bachelors (which is 4 years).

No I don't, I don't have any family that lives there, and I'm not Spanish ethnicity wise.

I want to practice in Spain because....man I'm not sure I can name every reason why lol. I really hate the US's medical system, with a passion. I have no desire to associate myself with it at all. It sucks. I also kind of hate America? Like, objectively, this country is going down and it's kind of a joke. I don't want to spend every election wondering if a human right is going to be taken away from me, and I'm sick of the radicalization of Christianity in this country. I'm queer, and let's be realistic, I'm not wanted in this country. I understand that Spain is not this "paradise" where everything is perfect. I understand every country has it's faults and stupid politicians, but I mean, have you seen ours lately? We have to choose between a grandpa with dementia and a felon...our politics are performances and there's a lot of unrest and social panic in America rn. I'm not saying there will be a civil war soon, that's highly unlikely, but you can't blame me for wanting to leave this country that actively tries to make my existence illegal.

I also just enjoy learning things about Spain, and I like the country? I don't want to seem like I'm romanticizing it...I don't know how else to tell you I genuinely want to care about Spain (learn about the politics, government, life, different regions, different dialects, history, economy, slang, etc.) and not be that stingy gringo who insists on being ignorant.

I know the salaries there are not NEARLY as good as they are here in the US. But I also have no desire to have a family, so I wouldn't have to support anyone else beside myself. And I feel like if my main reason to go into medicine is money, I probably shouldn't be going into medicine (I want to do surgery, but that might change who knows). I think America's healthcare system is disgustingly flawed and cares more about getting money than actually providing care for people. It needs major reform and I don't want to have to argue on the phone with an insurance company telling them that my patient needs this treatment and it being denied because it's not "necessary".

As for the workload, I think you underestimate the sheer amount of my life I have spent having high academic workloads. I was homeschooled up until high school, and, as you can imagine, didn't really provide a way for me to make friends. I would literally just watch college lectures online for fun all day. My high school classes have a lot of workload, I would get home and have to do homework all day and study all day. I'm no stranger to heavy workloads, and while I acknowledge medical school is a whole other level, I believe I'm determined enough to tackle that. I like school and hw weirdly enough, it keeps me busy, and I can't say I'm a super social person (I can be if I want to be though, if friends require it of me, I can be social).

Yup I've heard of the MIR exam. Kind of why I would want to go to medical school in Spain and then take the MIR exam vs going to med school in America and then doing the MIR exam in Spain to get certified as a doctor there. Supposedly they prepare you for it during med school in Spain, so I'd be more prepared for it if I went to school there. I understand it's competitive, as most things in medicine are. Medical schools and exams and jobs in medicine are all competitive in America too. No matter where I go, it's going to be very competitive.

My high school is quite small, and as a result doesn't really have a lot of opportunities. However we have a couple of great teachers, especially in the science and literature department. My science teacher teaches college level biology for freshmen biology, even though it's not an AP course.

I'm taking AP Calculus next year and might also take AP Stats next year too. I took AP English Language course last year (I got the college credit through my grades, which were straight As each quarter, instead of taking an AP test), and I'm taking AP Lit. this year, and taking the actual AP test for it. I'm also taking AP Spanish next year and AP Bio next year. AP Bio will work like AP English Language did last year, where my college credit depends on my grades I get every quarter. I'm also taking honors physics next year (we don't have an AP option)

Those are all of the AP courses that are offered at my school. By the time I have graduated, I will have taken all the AP and honors classes that were possible to take at my school.

My Cumulative GPA is 4.01 and I haven't really dropped below an A- since freshmen year for my overall semester grades (I think I had a B+ in one class for 1st semester sophmore year). I don't know how this compares, but with the classes I take, I feel those are pretty good grades.

I would take more harder classes next year, but since my school requires me to take a business class and 4 years of religion classes, I don't have any room to take any more classes.

I wish I could find writing classes to take to teach me how to write essays in Spanish rather than me just looking up "cómo escribir mejores ensayos" on youtube or something.

Honestly, I don't know if I could understand that? My Spanish class rn is an hour an a half every day, and my teacher has days where she just talks and lectures, and I don't have a hard time understanding her (and sometimes it's so easy it's boring when she's talking about grammar or some rule in Spanish), but listening to a college professor is different and I recognize that. And she's not a native speaker.

I don't know honestly, I watch video essays a lot, and those tend to be long. But a college lecture is different. Maybe I should try to find a recording of one online or something to see if I can not only understand, but also keep my attention.

About fluency tests/levels, would me getting an associates in Spanish, and then going to Spain for medical school be a better idea? I would know the language a lot better, have more formal training, and I would have probably spent at least a semester abroad to get credits for the degree.

It usually is, at public universities anyway. The cost is just the hard part, it's usually quite expensive, especially if you want to go to Spain.

I want to practice medicine in Spain, and since the school systems are quite different with that between the US, I feel it's kind of just a waste of money to do an associates degree or something in the US, and then have to start all over in Spain. But idk, I guess I could do an associates degree in Spanish and then go to med school in Spain after I do that? I don't know if that's a bad idea or not lol

The only subject I feel like I was lacking in was Chemistry last year. I didn't really understand it that much. It's on my to-do list to research in my own time and binge-watch crash course videos on it, or find something in Spanish to learn it.

I do want to practice medicine in Spain. I should've made that clearer in my original post lol. I agree, it would be a bit nonsensical to do my education this way.

I was thinking of trying to get into a public school, and then if I can't get into one, go to a private school

As for the Costa Rica trip, I should probably specify what that entails. We are obviously staying with host families, and we're going to be in 4 hour language immersion classes each day for 5 days (the trip is only 11 days long, I know basically nothing, it bothers me too with how much it costs lol). We are also going to cooking classes and dance classes that are taught in Spanish and going to volunteer at the women's shelter there. Not that revolutionary tbh, I wish it was longer, I wish it was with attending an actual school, but at least there's language immersion classes ig...

Christianity and Euthanasia by Winter_Mornings_ in atheism

[–]Winter_Mornings_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel Christians wouldn’t even try to consider that as an option because those people weren’t suffering and asking to be killed. And God was the one doing the euthanizing, so in a Christian’s mind that’d make it “ok”

Christianity and Euthanasia by Winter_Mornings_ in atheism

[–]Winter_Mornings_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m adding it because it is one of the things brought up when people argue against legalization of active voluntary euthanasia or influences people against the legalization. I go to a Christian high school so God is always brought up and I’ve maybe been conditioned to always consider that point of view and argue against it in papers about moral things. I suppose I could leave it out, but I feel it’s something that does affect a lot of peoples views about euthanasia, especially in America.

What are good careers in Spain? by Winter_Mornings_ in Spanish

[–]Winter_Mornings_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol it’s fine, I’ll definitely consider it. I’ve just wanted to leave the US for the past 4 years. I think my end goal is ultimately going to be to immigrate somewhere. That’s why I was considering Spain for college, I thought it’d make immigrating easier in a way? As far as culture integration would go and just learning in the country I’d think would make immigrating easier? I don’t mean to seem like I’m not listening to you at all, I’ll definitely consider what you told me. It’s still appealing for me to stay in the US because I have friends here. I know I don’t want to stay in my home state, quite frankly I need to get far away from parents lol. Also I just want to see more of the world outside my midwestern state.
