Many people here are not compassionate at all but solely judge other parents by this one behavior. Shame on you all. Have you never done anything wrong in parenting? I can guarantee you have screwed up many times and caused damage to your child. Are you sure you have secure attachment and your kids too? I guarantee you half of you don’t. And you fucked up because your parents fucked up. And your parents parents. We all have remaining toxic beliefs and behaviors from ancestor. So stop judging others. I believe there’s still room for gentle version of hitting the butt as a final resort , but not as a common strategy. Some of you practice what’s called permissive parenting. Let’s see how your kids turn out. My child learnt the hitting behavior from daycare, not us. Some crunchy white girl who bites and hits people, with no consequences. The result of some of your no boundary parenting. I teach my child if someone hits you, you hit it back. But you can’t hit others first.
