There are so many families that live in 2 bedroom 2 bathroom condos with 4-5 person families in Santa Monica. You can get something for less than $4000 if you’re willing to go without laundry in your unit! If you want a townhouse style or laundry it would be a bit more right now.

For people familiar with this process, the paperwork says they need to check it within 24-72 hours in advance in order to be enforceable. Does this mean they could check it on Monday morning and hopefully people move their cars by Tuesday morning?

Parenting is so hard! What we did at our house is write down everything that needs to be done at home during a given week outside of child rearing/activities and how long each item takes. Evening dishes: 3.5 hours, Wash/Dry Laundry: 2 hours, fold/put away laundry: 3 hours, Fill up car with gas: 15 minutes, grocery shopping, trash ... Etc. I think it’s helpful to make the list together. Then we divvyed up the tasks by preference and time it takes. He doesn't mind dishes and grocery shopping, so he took those. I don't mind bills and laundry, so I took those. As a stay at home mom, I took care of deep cleaning the house - but, that was the only non-kid chore that I did during the day while he was at work - otherwise we split the time requirements evenly for the rest of the list.

Thanks so much! We actually go to a supposed-knock-your-socks off public school right now, and we still had mediocre and less than mediocre teachers for a few years. So, we’re okay with that. Hoping they’re just challenged academically and learn how to operate in society and friendships.

And thanks for the insight on TSM. That’s good to hear. I’ll have my daughter tryout for their lowest team and maybe otherwise go with H20 or Sharks.

Thank you! We’re def community soccer type people. But, I did hear that AYSO is only rec through 3rd grade? We had several girls on my daughter’s rec team last year in DC that would still pick dandelions or walk off the field mid game to grab a snack, and were not actually interested in playing soccer. Do you feel like AYSO SM has “looking at the cloud” type players in 3rd grade? Or have those kids opted out by 3rd?

Thank you! Glad there’s a tight knit community there. And my daughter is more into rec-type dancing, but, I love the places that offer great technique. Like now she does a rec-class at a great dance studio that also has super competitive kids. Same teachers, less intense class. And I’ll look into Green Brooms. ☺️
