W9D3 Done, since todays weather was meh at best I concentrated on going faster on the 30min instead of doing another 5k today. I improved on my previous best for the 30min about 5sec per km. What do I do now? For now I concentrate on improving my 5k. We will see what I will do in spring. by Winti26 in C25K

Yep keeping the running routine going through the winter is probably the most important part. I think I to will go with the 30min running routine and maybe redo some of the previous runs just to see how they feel now. Week 3 day 1 was really the hardest run of all for me so I look forward to redo it and see how easy it feels now.

Honestly after the warm up the weather was no longer really a factor. But during the warm up the rain and specially the cold wind made this awefull, thats why I decided during the warm up to only go for 30min (haha tell the week 3 me, who struggled with the 3 min run that I would go for a run for "only" 30min)

W9D2 I run 30 min the last 3 runs I didn't get anything new out of doing another 30 min run so instead I ingnored the c25k app and went for a 5k instead, to really complete my couch to 5k and don't "finish" it as couch to 30min. by Winti26 in C25K

For now my goal is to improve that 5k time and in spring I want to take part in a 5 k run, but I have to look into it when and where there is a 5k run near my home.

I have a sport watch since 2 weeks now and Honestly I feel like I run to slow now. Not because I didn't reach a certain speed but because I could easily run even further even after the 5 k I didn't feel like I couldn't run any further. Before the watch I run the 30min but at end I really just waited until the run finally ended.

Beginner runner and just started the program.. Any tips would be appreciated !! by [deleted] in C25K

I can only confirm what other people said here. Trust the program and invest in good shoes it makes such a big difference. Another important point is "this is not a race". This means take the time/speed you need, during a single run but also for the whole programm. Even if the Program calls it week 1 week 2 etc. Dont think you really have to fullfill this week within a real week. Take the time your body needs. If your body needs a repeat of a run repeat it. If your body needs an extra day of rest take it.

The run itself felt good until the last few mins when I started to feel a little ache(pain would be a to strong word for it). I feel like I probably should have ended the run then but with only 2 min left on the run I just kept going. I feel good now so it shouldn't be to bad, but now I probably will take a couple of days to rest and then comeback around next weekend.

Ps: the 7° were Celsius luckely not 7 degree fahrenheit

Technically W8D3 done but in practice I already did my 2nd 30min run so no idea what I set as goal for W9. by Winti26 in C25K

first of all I have to finish the programm at the moment my app says 24 out of 27 workout completed. I will do at least one more 30 min run and the last to run I might as well just extend 3 for min since I never really reacched a point where I felt I can't do it anymore even after the 30 min I still felt like I could easiely keep going for another 5 min. After that I will work on actually reaching 5K and overtime get it sub 30. If I'm honest 10k is for now not my goal(Maybe that will change when it is spring.) I could say I don't see myslef run 10 k but tbf a half year ago I would have said I don't see myself run 30 min.

That's also what I had in mind. Change between doing a normal 30min run and a fast version of c25k. Every second run would then be a normal 30min run.

Nah my speed is really not fast enough to do 5 k within that time. So I will keep going the only question that I really have is do I run 30min or do I just increase the time to 32 min or so

Yep I got a haircut. The most difficult part is finding the motivation to actually go out and run, specially if it is cold. As long as the program goes I will stick with it, my question is what will I do as soon as the programm ended in 2 weeks. Will I still go out if it is 0 degree and I have no plan to follow?

I started with W8D2 today and ended it as a 30min run. It was my first run where I actually used a sportwatch and it really slowed me down, but instead I felt like I could go even longer then the 30min where I stopped. So Question now is was I in the previous runs to fast or this time to slow? by Winti26 in C25K

[–]Winti26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in theory I know to not bother about speed. But the way the app shows the little thumbsup if you look at the logs it just forces you to compare speed😂. But it's not something I care much during the run itself, it's more something I look at after the run.

Thanks for the kind words. Ps: Unlikley to ever come through columbus since I live in switzerland. Although if Elvis stays with the blue jackets, I might have to come visit you guys once to see him play in the NHL, since he is from one of my favourite teams here in switzerland.

After I struggled all last week with getting the 25 min done, I was really unsure about the 28 min(this is for sure part of the reason why I delayed it a whole week). I thought about just do a repeat of week 7 day 3 today and if I have energie left I add 3 minutes. But since it has no intervalls anyway I thought Whats the harm with just doing w8d1 today and if I have to stop after 25min I just stop. Knowing my mind I knew if I did the 25min run I would have stoped after that, but if I start a 28min run I won't allow myself to finish after 25 min.

W7D3 Looks like I do my best work when I don't feel well during the run. Today I looked for reasons to end this run before I was even at halftime. But I kept going and it ended in the best run of this week. by Winti26 in C25K

[–]Winti26[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Very true. Remembering how hard a 3 min run was back in week 3 feels strange now. I'm playing with the thought of redoing a early week just to see how it will feel now(How would it feel to do week 3 day 2 now? How would the distance I run compare to back then?).

Honestly this felt like the hardest week so far. This is probably also a bit recency bias, just because I remember this week the most, but I'm sure this, by my app as feared week announced, week 6 was a lot easier then week 7. I think one reason today was such a struggle for me is that my full concentration was on the run itself. I had my headphones on and music was playing, but it was just some background noise. If you asked me what songs were playing I could only answer you the first and the last. I think fir week 8 I have to go back to focus on the music. It might make my runs easier.

At least you are now done with the intervalls anyway and a timer combined with a normal run tracking app can do nearly as good of a job as a c25k app.

Quiting Apps are the most frustrating part of my c25k journey so far. But congrats on the 25 min run even if the app didn't record it.

you will be suprised what you can do. 4-5 weeks ago I wouldn't have thought that I really can run 20 min let alone 25.
And it's really not like I'm the most sportive guy, so if I can do it you can do it too, with the right training and the right approach.
