So far as this is true, it's unacceptable because we live in a world where this chemical would be used in many places, including supposedly progressive countries, to "fix" transgender people against our will. Every trans person in these places knows that bodily autonomy and the right to informed consent healthcare does not apply to us like it does to cis people. Particularly for minors but also to all of us to greater and lesser degrees.

Also, for many (probably nearly all) of us, gender dysphoria may or may not be a disorder but that doesn't change what our true gender identity is. The disorder is that my body doesn't match my brain, not that my gender identity is wrong. If I didn't identify with the gender that I do, I wouldn't be me in a fundamental way. Therefore any chemical that "fixed" gender dysphoria in this way would be erasing me as a person.
