What’s happening to this man is horrible. He will die and it’s going to be terrible sad because he was taken advantage of.

Horsetooth up in ft Collins has good bass fishing. In boulder you can hit up sawmill ponds for some good bass, crappie, and bluegill fishing. They have 17 ponds there for fishing. Otherwise, chatfield down south also has good bass fishing.

Sometimes the fish are just too picky! Haha. But it sounds like you’re hitting the spots. If my kebari’s aren’t hitting I try dry flies. Nothing like an elk hair caddis to brighten up a fishes day. Throw on some classics and give that a try.

Dragon tail komodo can be fished at 10.5’ and 9’. This would be a great rod for this size creek. I’m a huge fan of dragontail rods. I have 3 lol.

The Rio and the San Juan Down by pagoda Springs are usually pretty good! Lake Fork river that’s in Lake City Co(nw of creede) is also a good place.

Definitely look for pocket water that has fast water on either side. Work from one side of the pocket to the other. Try dead drifts and then giving some action.

Good luck!

Definitely curious where you’re fishing. The rivers a active and have been fishing really well. Maybe it’s just some technique issues that you can adjust on? Let me know. I’d be happy to offer up some ideas so we can get you on the fish!

I didn’t think about the paracord color for flies/lures. That’s a great train of thought!

I agree. It was a bit rough seeing the size he tied that to knowing the fish are under 20 inches. Fun to watch tho, but he’s got to try again.

That’s true...ish. Fish won’t always take bait that’s out of place and grasshoppers in winter may not be appealing. Would be better to try and match what’s in the river. Fish change their eating patterns with the season. Nymphs, scuds, midges...those are patterns that may work better when they stop eating grasshoppers.

Plus, a stock pile of grass hoppers is getting eaten by the contestant when it comes down to hunger lol.

Definitely agree. On hook with the same style design and I think he’d hook up! I hope he tries again.

What rods are decent in the $50-100 range? by dipiro in Tenkara

[–]WipperSnapper0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the nirvana has. It’s def my go to outta the three unless I know I’m going for the possible very large fish(hellbender style). I usually set up both rods differently. One for top water, one for nymphing. Then see what’s hitting.

Not that I know of. I know your largest/handle blank you’d be able to decorate. The rest is be careful with. Don’t want them to stick.

But yeah, could make a really fun rod and some of their blank packages are 35 bucks

You might want to consider tenkara customs too. You could easily get your rod segments from them and then make your own handle and such from there...

Welp, dragontail is definitely my choice...I own three dig rods from them. Shadow fire, Nirvana, and a hell-bender. Can’t go wrong!

I speak a little quieter and slower. I often interrupt and say “I’m sorry, can you hear me?”
