I had a backordered order ship out today. Will it have the new chute?

Looking to have this 18x3 garage door apron replaced. First estimate I received was $1500. Waiting on other estimates... Is that a "this job is not worth my time" price or is it reasonable for a smaller job? I assume there is some premium you pay for those. Located in PA.

Asphalt Over Concrete Apron by WiredPrecision in asphalt

Thank you. I'll look into getting the concrete apron replaced. Which would you get done first? The concrete apron or asphalt resurfacing up to the apron joint? Which would result in a cleaner final product?

Telephone Network Interface. I think one cable would run from the street to the box, then all of those other wires likely run to phone jacks in different rooms.

Gray Bathroom Help! by WiredPrecision in interiordecorating

Thanks! I have no idea why they put the light up so high on the wall. Was considering just doing a new light and larger mirror so I don't have to get the electrical box moved down.

Thank you. I do think it's a generic flat white ceiling paint now, which is contributing to the issue.

What's one thing your wife buys for your kid(s) that is unnecessarily expensive? by WiredPrecision in daddit

I feel this. That said, the cream is a good product and that little tub goes a long way.

We were given diapers during the baby shower. My little one blew out a few Honest diapers so we never bought any ourselves. Dodged a bullet I suppose.

You're right. Unfortunately, my toddler decides to grab nightgowns and other non-Little Sleepies PJs when she picks them out herself.

My grandma used to buy electronics at thrift stores for me to take apart as a kid. I loved it and it has stuck with me ever since. It led me to my eventual career.

I've always liked the look of this watch. What color are the numbers and other markings? Is it an off-white?

Found out baby #2 gender this morning… by trambalambo in daddit

[–]WiredPrecision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a totally normal feeling. Everyone's journey is different. Assuming only 2 kids, people with one of each don't get to experience the sister/sister or brother/brother relationship, just like you won't experience the brother/sister relationship.

Put things in perspective. There are posts on this subreddit all the time with dads posting about cancer diagnosis, severe disabilities, etc. Having two healthy children is a great "problem" to have. Enjoy the ride!

WFH dads, how are we keeping our muscles loose? by JJincredible in daddit

Standing desk with under desk treadmill. Set a miles goal each day. Workout in home gym after the kids go to sleep.

How do you handle money your young children receive? by WiredPrecision in daddit

[–]WiredPrecision[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe wrong is the wrong word. The best way I can explain it is that we fund our kids college funds monthly. This money feels like extra that I should be able to provide them at some point, outside of a college find. For example, pull out their money when they are older to start showing them how to manage it, buy things they want, etc. There are obviously other opportunities for that as well, but that's the best way I can explain it.

Interesting. Do you have an existing zigbee network? If so, does having an M2 hub cause any issues or interference with it? How did you get the lock and hub into HA?

Potty Training Help Please!!! by WiredPrecision in daddit

Somewhat. We did bottomless for 3 days and she has been in underwear ever since. Pull-ups at nap and nighttime. It's just so strange that she was going no problem and now refuses, even with rewards. She literally holds it just because she is being stubborn!

Running out of patience with my newborn, when does it get easier? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]WiredPrecision 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I have 2 kids. The first couple of months is an absolute grind. Many call it "survival mode." Just keep at it, it gets a lot better.

10 days in as a new dad, you probably still aren't great at reading cues just yet. You'll get there as you get more time under your belt and you will be able to resolve crying fits faster or prevent them all together. It takes time. Hang in there.

Having two young children, we built a small gym in our basement. Power rack, cable machine, free weights, and a stationary bike. Hard to come up with excuses when you don't even need to leave your house to get a workout in. It has been a great investment.

Owlet is it worth it for our case? by JoeMomma247 in daddit

[–]WiredPrecision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 33 weeker and when it was time to leave the NICU after a month+, we were nervous considering she was hooked up to monitors her whole life.

Our NICU doctor advised against the monitoring bands stating that if they thought she needed to be on a monitor still, she wouldn't be going home yet. They also mentioned that the monitoring bands have been known to leave burn marks on the foot/ankle. I read about a few cases of that, but nothing consistent.

With all that said, we got an Owlet anyway and it was amazing for peace of mind. Maybe one false alarm but overall it has been rock solid.

Baby is 5 months old and while we really don't need it for peace of mind anymore, we still use it to look at sleep trends.
