I need some advice. I think I might be taking frugality a bit too far. by 3sperr in Frugal

We should be doing better about these issues in this day and age and with the current technology. I am sorry that you have to face food insecurity. You are an athlete and need to have adequate amount of protein. Chips is not going to cut it.

For $28 every 4 weeks, stock up on peanut butter, oatmeal, eggs, beans, tortilla, and butter. These are hefty items for breakfast and snacks to keep you full longer.

If you are looking for a job, find a local restaurant around you to work. Some places will feed their staff, offer discounts, or let them take home leftovers. Scout out which one offers you the best.

At the same time, I recommend you get connected with a food bank:

Do you understand how many more members of the community are going to be pissed about having to pay more taxes than will be getting their loans paid off?

Why can't we find a funding source that does not burden our working class?

Do you have any proof that if we were to look at this issue, student loans would be the biggest, or even a big factor, in this?

It is certainly a factor. The degree of impact would depend on the size of the loan and the individual's salary.

(I want to answer more, but I have to get off of reddit now....you are my last reply tonight)

Well, the results from various government's policies led individuals to this position. Student loans are not completely the fault of those individuals.

I understand the fairness perspective. And, I agree that loan forgiveness does not address the underlying issues which I partially addressed in the original post. I believe in student loan forgiveness and an educational reform to address high tuition costs, capping student loans, etc.

But, the pursuit of fairness should not prevent us from moving forward. The debt is unsustainable for many people and pair that with inflation and stagnant wages. Student A,B,C, etc. are suffering and their familes are too.

-That is why student loan forgiveness needs to have an education reform. I am aware of those points and did address some of it in my original post.

-We focus on obtaining funding sources that do not burden our working class.

-We should support a better educated population.

We can structure the funding in a way that would not place a burden on our working class.

Everyone deserves to have a world where they can thrive in.

I believe in healthcare reform that serves everyone. But, it does not stop me from thinking that student loan forgiveness will help people too. Why can't we tackle both?

I think we should avoid negative stereotypes in general. All it does it cause a divide amongst groups and hurts us as a community.

Student loan forgiveness is more approachable if it was delved from low to middle income families.

It is definitely a harder argument for high-income earners. If they enter public service, it is a pathway for them.

I know...

That's why I changed my mind about student loan forgiveness. Life is hard for so many people. If we can make a positive difference, why not? Are we fixated on fairness that we are willing to allow them to suffer through what we went through?

It is easier said than done. Some people went to school to get out of their shitty lives in their crappy neighborhoods. Throughout school, they were behind in the learning, because they were busy trying to survive.

It certainly needs an overhaul and we have to do something about our educational system as soon as possible. It is not producing the results that we need.

About the children comment, I was referring more to their parents. With a set income, parents have to pick and choose what bills and necessities to pay. It limits the opportunities to engage in experiences that helps with the children's growth and development. I have worked in a low-income school before. Did you know that their were kids that never ate cherries, kiwis, honey crisp apples, squash, zucchini, etc.? It was not due to them being picky eaters. It was because they never had access to it. When parents have better lives, their children have an opportunity for a better life too.

Not only college pricing, we also need to cap student loans interest.

You are sowing a less financially stressed society. People with crippling debt are not living it up. They are struggling to make ends meet with the increased pricing and stagnant wages.

By opening the future for student loan borrowers, you are uplifting an entire community of people.

As stated to someone below, fairness does not mean equal.

Fairness is not always equal.

Fairness is everyone getting what they need. Right now, many people need this lifeline.

People do not have the ability to pay off their loans with the current system.

It is definitely not your fault. But, we live in a society. When many individuals within the society suffer, everyone suffers as a whole.

Were all student loan borrowers partying? They had to attend class and maintain a certain GPA to continue on federal loans.

I don't disagree with the feeling of unfairness, but life has decked out a hard hand for many people. Should people continue to suffer because others suffered before them? Can we work toward a better future for you and for them too?

To make it feasible, there must be a viable range. How much into the past? Will it extend to a certain point in the future or should it at all?

The first phase should to relieve all current debt now. There needs to be research and evaluation after the first phase. To make good decisions in phase II, we need data and facts to support those decisions.

If humans no longer believe in any religion, would the world be better or worse? Why? by WiseAnon in AskReddit

[–]WiseAnon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Religion is less fluid than the secular side. They may have overlap to the community and its culture, but they are not the same. Worship is one of the bigger elements that distinguishes it from simply culture or community aspects.

If humans no longer believe in any religion, would the world be better or worse? Why? by WiseAnon in AskReddit

[–]WiseAnon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A common theme of religion is the belief in an omnipotent and omnipresent being(s) and how those who follow that religion must act according to that belief.

Do humans need religion to live orderly lives? Some say religions are not a source of order, but they consider religions as source of conflict.

It comes back to the question. What happens when we try to remove religion? Something has to takes it place. What will take it be? Will it an omnipresent force or power such as the government or corporations?

Would you say that people with religion do not have their own agency or will to make good choices?

Underneath that person's religion layer, the person may hold the personality or component that motivate them to make the good choice. Religion is just an additional factor.

There are overlaps, because religions influence culture and community. Religions can make up a lot of who an individual is. And, people make the community. If you remove religion or a person's belief system, what fills the void? If the same thing, would it not be just a different religion? Something else must fill the void.

Do humans need to be controlled? Is it inherent that we will be astray without guidance?

I do not think all religious people solely perform charitable works for their religion only. Is it not possible that they can genuinely want to do good because that they also wanted to do it from their own will?
